Our bodies are better at repairing themselves and even sometimes ice to reduce the swelling is contrary to the swelling created initially to further protect us.π€
Wonder why number 9 says heat also.π
All the best Iga , sorry I cannot help.Do not know the answer to that.ππππ
Ice/cold is for new injuries. It reduces blood flow, and as the blood is carrying inflammatory markers to the area, it reduces the inflammation.
Heat is for old injuries, by increasing blood flow to that area for healing.
It's interesting what you say about ice prolonging healing time though. There's certainly evidence that anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen can lengthen the healing time, precisely by blocking the body's attempts to repair the tissue.
It's about symptom relief I guess. Taking paracetamol for a cold can help the virus, as it lowers your temperature, exactly countering what the body has done in an attempt to fight the virus! But then if you've got to go to work for 8 hours, why deny yourself feeling a bit better with some paracetamol?
