In the words of Billy Ocean when the going get tough, the tough get going and today’s run was by far the toughest one I’ve done. When MJ said I’d only done 5 minutes, I was ready to quit (I haven’t felt like that before at all) but told myself, get to half way and see how I feel. Halfway still felt tough but I figured I’d keep going till I felt I really couldn’t and then it was only a case of a few minutes left so no point in quitting. So I managed to complete R3, slower and not as far as the last few weeks but I can see the Graduate badge glistening in the distance and I can almost touch it.
I think the reason this was tough was because yesterday I spent the day strolling about 11k in total, albeit leisurely around St Andrews, but I wore fashionable boots and not comfy shoes, so legs were tired, I feel a sniffle coming and lastly I woke up early then fell back to sleep so woke up a bit groggy, so maybe all these things combined didn’t help.
I’ll finish the post with a song lyric seeing as I started it with one. What I learnt today was in the words of the Boss is “I’m tougher than the rest”. Here’s to Week 9 R1 on Saturday... 🏃🏽♀️
