How often we should run?
If you are new to running it is crucial to follow the advice on the C25k podcasts/app and the guide to the planhealthunlocked.com/couchto5... and always take your rest days. It is not advisable for new runners to run on consecutive days for an absolute minimum of six months and even then you need to have learned a lot about what has gone on in your body to make sure you don't overdo it.
Structure in your running is definitely the safest way to start. The government recommendation is that you do a minimum of 150 minutes per week of cardio workouts.
The c25k program is designed so that you always have a days rest of not running after your run day ( you can do another form of exercise such as walking, swimming or yoga as long as its low impact ) ....
Many people run three times a week, but you can run on alternate days if you want to. Remember the rest days are just as important as the run days, its when your muscles strenghen and repair.
Once the running time gets longer as you progress gradually into the program, you may want to take extra rest days between run days...
