Just relax and enjoy it. Nice and steady is all that is required and in a few weeks you will be running for 30 minutes non stop...........this plan works!!
Hello there 👋😃
One of our Mods knows about the issues surrounding kidney transplant so she will be able to answer your questions 👍
Meanwhile, good luck to you and your mum with C25k. You only have to go very slowly and gently, which is why it’s such a popular programme. It’s excellent though at getting sedentary peeps moving, which is the reason so many of us pitch up here
Good luck with it 😃👍
Hiya there and welcome. How far on are you on your transplant journey? Have your transplant team given you the ok to start? I ask these questions because as a family we did the kidney donor/transplant thing last year as MrRfc was told not to attempt anything too strenuous for 6 months after but everybody is different. If you have the ok then if you take it steady and repeat runs if necessary then there should be no problem. I was talking to our renal physio earlier this week and she says she often recommends the app to lots of her patients, and all of them are post transplant.
My only advice would be as the weather changes keep an eye on your hydration as dehydration is not a place you want to be. Keep coming back and let us know how you are getting on.
Hi 🙂
The only advice is to take it slow and steady
I know from experience that going to fast to soon and not taking rest days makes it all a lot harder and, for me, I had to stop due to knee injury.
Now I’m starting again, from the beginning, and taking it nice and slow.
Enjoy it and Good Luck 👍🏻
Hello and welcome!
My daughter had a kidney transplant Oct 2016 at the age of 28. Once her clinical team gave her the go ahead she got back to running using C25 k. Go slow and steady, as you know stay well hydrated at all times. Build distance slowly. Be very aware of avoiding trips and falls.
All in all that is the same advice for every starter, good luck on the journey!
Welcome
Take the advice of the lovely IannodaTruffe ... and take note of the reply from our own wonderful Realfoodieclub and Millsie-J
Hi JLouk, I’m 8 weeks post transplant and have just completed week 1. I was
cleared for exercise a couple of weeks ago. As others have said slow and steady is the key and stop immediately if you have any pain around your incision/kidney. Your renal unit will be more than happy to advise you in your particular circumstances. But my feeling is that following a structured plan like C25K is a good way of not overdoing things. Best wishes.
Slow and steady as everyone else is saying and very good luck to you and your mum xxxxx
