Hi I have just completed my second run of week 1. I am in my mid 50’s and overweight but determined to try and keep to the challenge. I’m really not sure I will ever run 5k but anything I can manage has to be positive 😀
Newbie: Hi I have just completed my second run... - Couch to 5K

Believe it you will do this.🌟👏👏
Have you read the FAQ Posts🤔
Essential reading.
This is a tried and tested programme that builds your legs and lungs in 27 runs minimum.
The slow and steady method is designed to reduce the risk of injury to both your legs and body.
Footfall under your hips, breathing naturally to get the extra oxygen on board that you need to run.
You need to go slow and steady until run by run your legs and lungs strengthen.
All the support you need on this forum.🌟👏🌟
You are young and although this is not strictly a weight loss programme it will address your ambitions. The 3 runs per week maybe only burn 1000 cals per week.
You have 3 repair days, one following each run, where you can do other cardio interests, walking etc.but not impact stuff or running.👍👏👏
Weight loss community and active 10 walking community here also. Complimentary to C25k programme, but initially not essential.🤔
You can work up your hours of exercise programme.🤔
Making a start is great.🌟👏👏
Give this gift to yourself. It will change your fitness life and health.🌟👏👏
I’m mid 50s, was overweight and had never done much exercise at all when I started C25K. I finished the programme and feel great. I can run for half an hour - something I couldn’t have done in my slimmer 20s. Ignore the voices in your head that say you’re not a runner - just focus on the run you’re doing. Good luck
Well done 👍🏻 keep at it your doing great 😊
Well done😊 I found going really slowly and giving myself more than one rest day helped me. I'm on week 4 run 3 next.
Thanks for the advice. I will keep at it 😀
The couch to 5k is a bit misleading. But I bet you will once you have found your running mo-jo it is quite addictive but it may not be in 30 mins I rarely can run a sub 30 5k.
You'll be amazed how quickly your fitness improves, don't expect the weight to fall off quickly it won't but the shape of your body will change.
Remember the program works and there will be good runs as well as bad. It is okay to repeat weeks and park runs are fab even if you run walk them.
Thanks. I have never been a fan of running/ jogging but I am not a quitter so will keep at it and take each week as it comes. I’m hoping to do some runs with my daughter for motivation and support 😀
If someone had told my teenage self I would be a runner or even in my 20s/30s I would run I would have laughed in their face. I had a boyfriend who ran to the marina and back when I first moved to Brighton. I thought he needed his bumps felt now I can do that distance and more. But not as fast as he could. The running community is a friendly one,
Oh come on! Let’s have some can-do ! 💪😃👍
Thanks for the support
