Did my final run in bright sun and freezing temperatures this morning and am ridiculously thrilled. The Couch25k app is genius and this forum is a never ending source of support and advice. If I can go from not having run for 50 years to running 30 mins a week, anyone can. I followed the programme exactly, read the advice on speed, gait analysis and the importance of stretching exercises post run, and I made it without any real problems.
Yes, I still look like Peter Kay’s impression of a dad running, (I’m that slow) but I don’t care.
Good luck to all those still on the way. I realise that although I had the age issue, I am retired and therefore have no reason or excuse not to try to improve my health and fitness. I’m in awe of some of you who are battling with work, parenthood and in some cases serious health problems. All the very best to you.

Gosh - very well done! Absolutely brilliant achievement! I am also retired and trying to improve my fitness - I'll be along to the graduation podium in a couple of weeks hopefully! You're setting a great example to follow. 😀💪👍
This was meant for Oldfloss. Bit distracted this morning - meant to be catching train to London soon en route to France but Cornwall appears to be cut off ....again. Though as far as I know the track hasn’t fallen into the sea like it did last time.
It’s a free NHS app called Couch to 5k and you can get it on any smartphone. The icon is turquoise with the full name on it. Within that is everything you need. Good luck!
