I used an app to measure my distance for W7R2 and it has left me feeling disappointed rather than proud of myself this morning. I didn’t run as far as i dud on Tuesday for no apparent reason. I’ve decided to just listen to my music and Sarah and try to enjoy myself.
DISAPPOINTED : I used an app to measure my... - Couch to 5K
DISAPPOINTED
Every run is different. I graduated a few weeks ago and ran further on my 2nd run that week than I have done since. Everyone on here will tell you time and distance come eventually just enjoy getting out.
That's it, just listen to the programme, don't worry about distance on c25k, just do the times..😊
I know this might not be what you want to hear, but my advice is... don't measure your distance! At least not while you are doing C25k. I think it's an easy way to ruin it and disillusion yourself and also you should be thinking of getting through the time comfortably at this stage. Focusing on distance right now is a bit at odds with the time-based structure of the programme. I know it sounds a bit of a cliché but try to get used to listening to your body instead, and enjoy the process.
In my case I didn't measure anything until my graduation run, just followed the podcasts (at least while there were still walking breaks, then after that I just set a timer and listened to my own music). I still often just set off and stop when I feel like it without thinking too much about how far I've come, or I just run in the time slot I have available to me.
I personally think that while apps like Strava and MapMyRun etc are great fun, unless you are training for something specific it's a good idea not to focus too slavishly on your stats, especially in early stages.
Well done for realising the best way to deal with this! It's so easy to do it 'just out of interest' and find it has a bigger emotional impact than you expected.
Thanks for your comments. I’m not giving in! 🏃🏼♀️
You made the right decision. Distance really doesn't matter, establish the habit and increasing your times (not speed) is the name of the game. Good luck.
... and that is what the programme is, or should be all about..run and enjoy Go you!
