Hi! I have just started c25k! Today was my second run of week one! Just a quick question really to the experienced, do trainers make a big difference to running? I currently have a cheap pair but I am experiencing pains in my ankles/shins while I run! Should I invest in better trainers or will this ease as I continue to get fitter? Thank you!

Some aches are normal as your body gets used to the idea and the new stresses of running. But if it’s actual pain, then do be very careful. New shoes may help if your current ones are very worn, not cushioned, or are uncomfortable.

I would recommend that you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which will give you answers to your question and many others.
Trainers are not running shoes.

A gait analysis will be free at most sports shops and (in my opinion) SO worth it! They don’t have to be expensive, just listen to the advice given in the shop (they normally know their stuff. Good luck 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
