Hi all , I'm taking part in the race for life on July 27th . I'm hoping to run/jog the 5k , I say hoping coz with my history you never know if I will be injury free! . Anyway the question is this , it's on the grass & as it's onthe playing fields at end of my road so I thought I'd do some practice running on it , as I've never run on grass . Would you wear trail shoes or my my normal brooks stability shoes ? Thanks in advance if you can advise me .

I've run on grass In my usual Asics and/or Brooks Ghost When I went out with Jog Scotland none of us used trail shoes either.

Thanks old girl , I just didn't want to do my ankle in again & didn't know what pair to wear , I'm not a grass runner , don't know if I'll care for it .

I hardly ever run on concrete or tarmac (and don't much like it when I do). I have a pair of Nikes which do me just fine on the grass/mud/farm tracks/footpaths.

If you mean by trail shoes what I think you mean, I can't imagine running in them: I use mine for hiking.

Anyway, hope you find something that works for you. And I hope you avoid further injuries!

Thanks for your reply becca . The trail shoes are running ones there brooks cascadia what I use for running in woods near me . It's just I've never run on grass before & wondered which ones would be most suitable , those or my brooks road ones .

Ah, sorry, can't help you there. I use the same old Nikes as my routes always involve a combination of surfaces, usually liberally strewn with trip hazards.

I often run on a golf course which has areas of longish grass and up and down inclines. I wear salomon mission trail running shoes and feel safer in those than road shoes especially if it is wet. I'd guess though that the grass you'd be running on will be fairly flat and well mown . I'd have a practice run on similar with both pairs of shoes. Maybe a different one on each foot???!!!
