What you do in between running days

Just wondering what everyone else does between running days. As I’ve decided to start using my cross trainer and exercise bike on off days just 15 minutes on each to begin with then hopefully build up every week to last longer

I do an abs workout on my non running days and soon, when I get it fixed, I will do a bit of cycling too

Good plan.

Also Active 10, programme excellent. NHS One you recommend 2-3 strength sessions a week.

I have coupled my strength & run days and leave my repair days basically for gym cardio equipment and walking every day.

Mix it up and do what suits you, it’s all good.👍👏👏You can change it to keep it interesting.

I probably do 90 - 120 mins daily total. It suits me just to keep going.🤔👏👏

How long have you got...:)

Just as long as it is non-impact... anything really :)

Walk, cycle, yoga, climb, swim or Pilates...Strength and Flex... stamina exercises, squats... a hard day in the garden... a housework blitz day.. and a bit of rest if necessary or if you feel like it :)

I do C25k on Mon/Thur/Sat.

Tues- 1 hour Pilates

Wed - 1 hour Weight Training

Thur - after run 1 hour Yoga

Sat - before run 1 hour Weights

I am doing the C25k with a running club on Mondays but I’ve certainly felt the benefits of my cross training which I’ve been doing for 15 months.

I normally just sit down and stare at the wall. Occasionally l wince then go back to staring. If the mood takes me then l will yawn for an hour or two but then it's the staring mode again. I call that the pre-run stare-wince-yawn exposure.

I try and alternate my swimming and running days. I swim three times a week (twice with a coach and once with a friend). As soon as the weather is better I intend to include some cycling. Too windy at the moment for cycling as I am not a strong cyclist.

Not this year but may be next year. I need to build myself up first after a string of recent surgeries.
