I just have to thank you all on here for your encouraging posts. I feel I should have posted my journey as Ive been reading them all since starting this excellent Couch to 5k programme and all your posts have helped massively, I'm almost there with completing the programme having just completed Week 9 run 1. I'm 61 years old and I'd been procrastinating for the best part of 18 months before deciding I would get on with it and try and get fitter as I approach "old age". To be honest the one of the hardest parts, if not the hardest is going out the door for the first time. Looking back I should have just got on with it but I bet there are many more out there that are still in the same boat. So if you have just started the journey or are contemplating it - you can do it ! and I bet it will be one of the best things you've ever completed.

Great stuff! Im a year behind you and just did my first run today. It was a bit grim, if I'm honest... I'm looking forward to being able to run and enjoy it.

Thank you Fionamags, I never thought when I took those first steps that i'd be looking back and saying I did it. My first few weeks were hard too but you owe it to yourself to do it for you!- I ached all over and I didn't think my knees would hold out or my back or neck ( I could go on, the list was endless) but eventually after a few weeks it got easier. Every outing you take on the programme is a great achievement, so look forward to going out and ticking another one off. I found having some music playing at the same time as well as your chosen "coach" chatting and giving instructions a great help - just something you enjoy listening to really helps take your mind off any aches or discomfort. If you haven't tried music give it a go. Good luck!

Wow, that's a long lurk 🤩.

You are so right, this is a brilliant programme, and a wonderful forum.

I'm sure many of us wish we'd done it sooner, but we're here now.

I look forward to your graduation post 😊

Well done. Get that champagne on ice 🥂🍾👨‍🎓. You're a year older than me, I had a long, hard think after I graduated and decided my goal is to still be able to run 5k when I'm 70. Old age be damned!
