Feeling scared!

I’ve done run 1 week 5 twice as I needed to convince myself I could run 5min without stopping. It was hard but I did it. I can’t get my head around the next phase. I’m dreading the 8 mins run and don’t know how I’ll physically manage 20 mins? Why is it such a big jump from 8 to 20 and does anyone have any advice?? 😦

You do 5,3,5,3,5 so your moving for 21 mins. The walking parts are just slower running so 20 mins running is actually easier. Once you get your head around that you will wonder what you were worried about. Try the wk2 8min runs, you will be fine. It's actually harder to keep stopping and then having to warm back up again than it is to simply keep going.

Yeah just trust in the programme. It rocks ! 💪👍

Scared! Dreading! It’s just walking with a few very slow jogs. Nothing to worry about. You go very slowly. The only thing you need to do is finish each session

The programme is progressive. If you do one run you can do the next.

🙂👍🏃‍♀️

Don't worry auntielou, you have done all the training necessary to do R2. Trust the program...

Start your run really slowly, just a gentle jog...stay slow.

When you start to feel puffed, blow out a couple of long slow breaths to calm things down..and stay slow.

Feel positive, maybe start your run from a different spot, count, keep running til the next tree, bin, lampost.. and did I say stay slow🐢...

You can do it...Good luck 😊xx

I know exactly how you feel. I kept telling anyone who would listen that I could not possibly run for 20 mins nonstop, that it was simply impossible. They told me I had already run 16 mins (2x8 with a walking break) so I COULD do it. I needed to trust the programme and take it slow.

I took it SLOW, did it first time and the feeling was unbelievable. That was the real turning point for me when I knew I could run and that I would continue to keep running after C25K.

Here I am just 3 months after graduating and have just completed my longest run to date of 1 hour. I still can’t believe it but the feeling is exhilarating 😁

Previous to starting C25K I hadn’t run for about 40 years and now I’m a runner 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

So, trust the programme, TAKE IT SLOW, and you will do it.

Think slow, slow, slower 😊

Let us know how you get on.

As others say, it is not a big jump, unless of course you can walk briskly without any effort.

I wrote this for those who doubt themselves healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Have you read the guide to the plan? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... it has lots of general advice.
