Retired Teacher starting to run again

I am recovering from vertigo. I'm a retired teacher living in the Philippines. I've run a lot since 1970, but a terrible case of sciatica put a crimp in my running two and half years ago. . I've recovered from the sciatica, but an attack of vertigo two months ago put a dent in my running too. Hopefully, I am recovered.

Hi and welcome...:)

I also, am a retired teacher:) There are quite a few of us:)

Having just spent five weeks on the IC with trapped sciatic nerve.. I can empathise! Ouch!

Check out this post... it has all the information and the advice you may need, and is very well tried and tested.

Then... the mantra is, slow and steady, ( I am the biggest advocate of that, as friends on the forum will tell you). But, it works.

Listen to your body... it is your best guide.... relax and just head out.... keep posting too, for great advice and support.

Well done for joining us.... we look forward to your first post:)

Welcome.

Former runners often have trouble running slow enough, wanting to match their running exploits of former days.

Even a couple of years is going to have an impact and age catches up with all of us. As the guide explains, there is sound science behind the call to just run at an easy conversational pace.

Enjoy your journey.
