Hi, I’ve restarted C25k after starting it a few times, about to start week 3. Is it too ambitious to think about running a 10k in August ? I’m not too fussed about running all the way round, although that would be a bonus! Anybody else been ready to do 10k in that time frame
Aiming too high???: Hi, I’ve restarted C25k... - Couch to 5K
Aiming too high???
I started Couch to 5k with a zero level of fitness exactly 4 months ago and today ran 10k so it it definitely possible.
Wow I wish that will be me in 4 months. What kept you going? Because I think I will be looking for all the excuses to miss a day here and there and before I know it it will be 2019 and I will be stuck on the sofa again.
Just check this post out....

Follow the C25K programme all the way through and then take it from there
I would say yes that should be fine but it depends on how you find the programme, your current fitness level, and the commitment needed to run regularly.
First you will need to be able to run 5K "strongly" before thinking too much about double the distance. I have run 120 5K parkruns, 3x10 k "races" and 3xHM's. But I am a bit daunted by the thought of a 10K race in 3 months time because I haven't run 10K for quite some time. Recovering from a fairly long layoff from running, I am barely now able to run 5K satisfactorily so who knows what the next 3 months will bring???
Well if I can do it anyone can........ I had never done any sort of exercise before so started from a position of extreme couch potato on August 16th last year. Have just checked back through MapMyRun to find out when I first managed 10K - it was 14 January, so it took me five months. 10K used to seem like a terrifying, impossible distance but I noticed a tipping point at about 7k. It was quite a struggle building up to that point, after that it didnt seem too hard to add a bit on each week. I used to be terrified that I'd meet someone I knew but one of the most surprising things is that I no longer care what I look like or who I bump into as I puff round the local streets at the pace of a snail. I'm 65 and comfortably padded (to put a positive spin on things) so I'm not exactly a figure of grace but I do feel proud of myself. You will too! Good luck!
Following the 10% rule about increasing distance, you can transition from 5k to 10k in about four weeks, so you have plenty of time. This is not necessarily the best way to get there and slower progress is probably safer, but it is possible.
