Does anyone else find running on the treadmill easier than the road? I'm only a few runs in but I tried the treadmill for the first time ever last night and it felt easier than the road but my calves feel more achy this morning! I like the roads as there is more to look at than just the treadmill but wondering what others thought? Thanks π

Treadmill or road??
I find balancing on a treadmill odd & awkward- but I've only tried once! I much prefer running outside. π
I like running outside as I'm so nosy π€£π€£
I abhor dreadmills but running is running wherever you do it.
Set the incline to a minimum of one degree to simulate running outdoors otherwise the transition can be difficult.
Great advice ... Thank you!!
I proffer Road. Running on a treadmill feels awkward to me. I also like using Strava and looking at stats of my run
Hi. I donβt abhor treadmills.Infact I have one myself. I must admit though thereβs nothing quite like getting out into the fresh air and in amongst the smells of nature at its best. So I tend to use mine for HIIT or when the weather is really bad. I live out in the sticks, surrounded by farms, hills etc. When we had the snow before Xmas we were snowed in so we could not get out of the village or even in and running outside was a big no no as it was very icy and treacherous. So I was glad of my treadmill.
I agree with Iannoda Truffe though running is running where ever you decide to do it.
Happy running! ππ
Ah thank you! I love being outside and it does make me feel free and in a world of my own. At the gym I was clock watching but it felt a bit easier.... or maybe I'm getting healthier π€£π€£
ππ ππ x
I run faster on the treadmill. But by god it's dull. Maybe that is why I run faster.
Ha ha I did clock watch a bit! Maybe I found it easier cos i wasnt going up hills or on uneven pavements....
I do my runs on the treadmill at the gym which i prefer, i can set it to one pace and stick with it, i found when i ran on the road i found it hard to find the right pace.
I'm only on week 2 and have been to the gym before but never used the treadmill. It did seem easier but perhaps I woildnt think that way on s longer run lol!!!
How is it going Laura what run are you on? I hope your keeping well x
Hey!!! Just done week 2 run 2! How are you getting on? How are you feeling now? Has it been hard getting back into it from being poorly? I remembered that a few years ago my brother bought me some running trainers as he's quite into running . ... and I never used them ππ so I've dug them out, brand new, and they feel much nicer!!
Feeling much better thank you. It has been hard getting back into it but I can see the benefits so it has given me a purpose. Sounds like you have all the gear now with your new trainers there is no stopping you. Are you finding it abit easier now?
I'm not gonna lie and say I love it lol!!! But I'm getting there, I love the feeling after ...! And I really want to stick at it cos I am rubbish at starting things and then giving up! I'm doing pretty muddy again this year, last year I just walked it and it was good but this year I want to run it (5k) going through obstacles with mud everywhere! That's my goal! I also want to lose a bit of weight too so trying to be healthy all round! Do yΓ²u feel better since you started running? What week do you think has been your hardest so far?
Week 1 was the hardest week by far. I find if you post after every run people like and comments spur you onto the next run. Pretty mudder sounds fun and I am sure will be a superb goal. I set myself a target to lose 6 stone this year and so far I have lost 2 I am on the slimming world and a lot of exercise. I have closed all the exercise rings on my Apple Watch for the whole of jan doing over 25 hours of exercise. I am expecting the weight loss to drop to around 2 pound per week so that means by the end of sept I will be down to 13 stone. Keep up the good work and keep me posted x
That's amazing go you!!!!! I love slimming world!!!!!!
How is my mate Laura getting on this week? I have done my wk5r2 today how are you getting on? X
That is brilliant! I haven't done so well. Been a bit poorly with this cold rhing so not felt like running at all this week. Starting to feel a bit better so hoping to get back out in a few days. Have to say I have missed it a bit..... craziness!!! How are you doing? Did you find it hard after you were poorly? How are you getting on, week 5, that's a tough one isn't it?
Sorry to hear you are unwell. It took about a week to get back to where I was. I was really impressed as I did more running than I was supposed too on wk5r2 but I got told off by the admin as I was encouraging others to do the same? Apparently I was actually just posting what I had done. Slapped on the wrists whoops. I hope you feel better soon I will let you know how I get on with my 20 min run x
