If you want to run with others could you join a club? I don’t think that many people do meet up via here. Having said that it is a very long way to go to have a run with someone!!

I remember I did the last few weeks of C25K and graduation run with my virtual running buddy Oldpossum she was a long away from me. And I remember at about the same time 4 or 5 people including McFitty graduated on the same day. It was fun watching as they all crossed the finish line.

So you don't need to be near us to run with us.

Very True Sue :) As I always say - we might not run together, but we never run alone :)

Nearest club is far away and rather 'elitist' :) I might give starting 'Try this C25K program with me in the Park' go again this year. City Hall are reluctant because of liability etc...but maybe I can get past all that this time :)

I love the support I get from this forum - but actually love running solo. Makes a change from work in a busy primary school (all that chatter😂) and gives me some headspace away from everything else I cram into my life. If fact I think this running lark has done far more for me mentally than physically (though have to say like the way my legs are shaping up!).

So much love to my virtual running buddies but I do like heading out on my own.

I feel the same way! Love solo running, but also like coming on here for my running community

I'd never have kept going without this place :)

I usually do also Fitter - but sometimes it would be nice, just every now and then, to share the experience :)

As long ( suffering) readers of my posts know, the usual 'sharing experience' I have is unleashed crazy dogs, unleashed crazy humans, Park pervert, 'Walking Meditation Lady' who salmost decked me as i ran past her etc etc :)

Ha - made me laugh out loud - 'walking meditation lady 😂'

I like running on my own. Even at parkrun I am usually on my own unless I am Tailwalker, although I don't mind a chat if I find I am running alongside someone else.

Geoff and I rarely run together,he is a bit to fast for me and I like to run further than him

I don't think I could even hold a conversation...but it would be fun every now and then to just do the same run as a pal :)

Nearest is 400 miles for me (one person in Sweden).

Wow! - that is a LONG way away for Sweden! :O

I dont know any other runners here. Judging by Strava, they all drive out to other places to run, and I dont drive. Though I do catch a fleeting glimpse sometimes as they fly past me in the dark, leaving me standing.

I bet sooner rather than later a newbie will arrive her that lives around the corner from you :)

in reply to Irish-John

You never know. I mostly see athletic young men pounding past me up the hills.

Like you, my runs are all from home. My nearest Parkrun is 6 miles away 🙈. Other runners do fly past me, and they're usually pretty friendly. I've found other runners locally by checking the flybys on Strava. Despite the amount of runners I see out and about locally, none of them are on this forum.

in reply to Sandyscroll

Still trying to work out how to enable flybys. I see other runners here but seldom when Im running, which us odd. Though I do tend to go very early morning or evening, except at weekends, when Ive seen another runner once.

Edit, mine are visible to others. How do I check others? They are not showing up on my feed.

I am still running Han Solo too. I’m with you. Never would have kept going without this forum and for that I am ever thankful. Don’t really mind solo runs either as they give me a chance to clear my head.

Drive north and you'll hit Decker , SaskAlliecat , Lavender1962 or myself. Surely one of us will have a reason soon enough to pass close enough for a stop and a run.
