Slacking...

I started a brand new job in the new year, my first mon-fri 9-5, (eek)! I have found that I super don't want to go running when I get home and I especially don't want to go in the morning! I'm on week 8 now, so each run is a long one, and sometimes when I'm running on my own I get a little bored. I've managed to convince my brother to come with me but so far we haven't been out since Saturday! I'm wondering if it's okay that for now I'm only managing one run a week..? Once I get into the swing of things at work I hope to be better but for now I'm severely lacking motivation and energy... Someone tell me that's okay!!! 😇

How about a short lunchtime run?

I struggle to run before work but do manage after work. I do that by getting home, not sitting down, running gear on and go with minimal thinking, almost ignoring what I'm gonna do next. Then 10mins into the run I start to enjoy it! From a time perspective I've found running v time efficient for gains made, totally local from the door, start at any time, no driving elsewhere and 30mins improves fitness and clears the head after work. Another gain is feeling smug in the evening afterwards!! Good luck with it all x

I sometimes take my running gear to work, change there at the end of the day and then drive to somewhere good/ different to run that is between work and home. I find it solves that struggle to get back out again when you have reached home tired.

You are very close to the end of the program - I definitely felt bored with Laura's music by then ( though I will never be bored of her encouraging words!) As soon as I graduated, I made myself a playlist of favourite music and also use radio 4 podcasts - no chance of boredom now!! You are nearly there - start planning your graduation treats!! 😄

There will be times like this. I am most certainly not a morning person and have a busy work/family life so need to keep weekends free. The result is, having to run after work. At times, I also do quite long hours and feel quite tired when I arrive home (twice this week!) but have somehow found a way to motivate myself i.e. by not thinking too much about it and forcing myself out the door! I'm under no illusion that my success rate so far may be closely linked to the fact that I'm only in week 2. 😏Keep pushing. 😁
