Don't understand my fitbit (Duh)

Dear Lovely People. This is today's thick question.....On my fitbit, which I have just started to use to clock my runs, it offers lots of stats which I understand and one I don't. Please can someone explain what the pace means. I am guessing it is in minutes and seconds - but for what? per mile? per km? Am I being stupid? apologies if I am .

I have a fitbit and after being confused like you I’ve decided that it’s minutes and seconds for either a mile or K. It matches what’s on Strava. So I’m going with that. Happy running. 😊🏃🏻‍♀️

so if the other stats are in km - it is mins and secs per km? I thought it might be - thanks. But now I don't know what a good rate is ( but guessing mine isn't yet) but will work on that once I get to week 9. Thanks for the reply

The advice is don’t worry about pace until you have consolidated a bit after you complete C25k. You will probably get faster as you progress anyway. That’s certainly my experience but I’m still a snail! Lol. 😊

Yes it means how many minutes & seconds it took you to run each kilometre or mile (depending how you have yours set) 👍🏻

oh that IS slow then - hee hee - if the target is 5km in 30 mins then I need to eventually get to 6 - is that right? then 9 or 10 is way off!

Yesterday I stared my Fitbit after he warm up and stopped it before the cool down just so I could check my distance and it said i’d ran 4.22k (i was doing weeks 8 Run 3 which is 28 mins running) it said my pace was 6’39’ so I know I won’t get to 5K in next weeks runs of 30 mins but I’m assured that with practice comes speed so I don’t worry about it too much 👌🏻

I graduated today, I ran 9.40 per km! Very slow but faster than a week ago. I’ll be working on pace after the consolidation runs (if I decide to). I learnt my lesson last week when I got despondent about my pace. Just go out and enjoy the run at a pace you can carry out a conversation. Happy running 🏃‍♀️

Ah thanks. I did 8' 36" on week 5 R 3 ( the 20 mins) but had a bad one yesterday as my foot hurt so it was 9' 60" on week 6 R 1. What confused me was 9'60" - surely that is 10 mins? Or am I really being thick?

It was probably 9’59.9” and rounded up. 😊

I’ve had it with my scales it’s said 14 instead of the next stone up!

that's how you guessed!

Well I changed it to kg and calculated it online into st and lbs! You’ve definitely got your Fitbit to km not miles haven’t you?

yup

That is strange - it would usually round up to 10’00” not 9’60”.

Sounds like you have the Fitbit sorted, but really, you don't want to put any pressure on yourself to hit a certain pace, except the easy conversational pace described in the guide to the plan.

Look at this poll healthunlocked.com/couchto5.... and you will see that most graduates do not run a sub 30 minute 5k during the programme.
