The monkey on my back talked me out of my 2nd parkrun today. It was cold 0c and foggy.. but that was no real excuse, I think my real defeat is I always find the second time doing something a bit harder than the first. Maybe the endorphins get you through attempt one and they aren't their on the second attempt.
So I kicked myself throughout the day and managed to pull it together for a chilly evening run.
Tried my new compression socks which I got for xmas and pleased to report I managed a PB. Knocking 2 mins off my 5k time. My thursday run I tried the stepping stones podcast and mostly managed it, so I reckon this helped shuffle things along.
Anyways not the best time but it felt so great to conquer the days demons and get another run in the bag.

Well said - that's what it's all about, conquering today's demons and getting another run in the bag! Park run will still be there when you want it to be, in the meantime you are doing an impressive job of getting out there and your times look great too! Win-win
Good run. I used to live in your neck of the woods (Oakington).
Noticed you use Gamin mobile app. There is an active NHS c25k group on Strava that you can sycn with. Just tick Strava in your Garmin app settings - Third party apps. Bingo!
Hey there. Small world. You moved a long way . No I have a garmin watch rather than the garmin app. My phone is a brick so gets left at home. I might be able to add strava to my watch though(fenix 5).
I know what you mean about something being easier the first time. That was my problem with running for a long time. I could run 30 mins or even do a 5k as a one-off every now and then. But there's no way I could do it consistently or 3x a week. The second time just didn't happen.
Well done for getting out there finally. Just keep at it until it becomes a habit!
