A running tip

Happy New Year to everyone, new and experienced runners :) Here's a little tip for you, not actually about running :D

Every time you come back from a run, put a sum of money into a tin or a jar. I put a pound in but whatever works for you wherever you are. You don't notice it at the time but the next time you need a new pair of trainers, or you want to splurge on running gear in the sales, you'll be surprised at how much you've earned for yourself! My lovely (and expensive) Hokas came out of my running tin, and I still have some left over - planning to buy myself some trail shoes because it seems that Hokas, comfortable though they are, have absolutely zero grip on anything other than tarmac :D

Some people 'pay' themselves by the mile, others just put money in for the run. Whatever you do, it soon builds up! So find yourself a jar, tin or box, nail the lid shut if you have to, and get saving!

Oooo that’s a grand idea Annie. Good for race fees too! I must go find a tin 👍🏼

Oh, yes, race fees - good idea! I always look at my credit card statement and wonder how on earth it got so high :D

Thats a great idea Annie. It certainly beats our swear jar system which was a dismal failure! 😁 This may help me justify some of those race registration costs

Oh, no, a swear jar :D I hope this works better for you, Decker :)

lol - yes I think it should. The miss on the swear jar system was having it also apply while I am behind the wheel in city traffic :) My children are smarter than me

Oooh, nasty! An amnesty should definitely apply while driving!

Yes, most definitely!

That is an excellent idea - it makes perfect sense!

(I should probably keep the tin down the road in town at a certain shop...)

Oh, that's a very good idea!

That's a brilliant idea! Definitely going to do this. (Though with the amount I already pay for a babysitter just to be able to go for a run, this is starting to feel like a VERY expensive hobby!)

Oh, I'm so sorry, did you think running was a cheap hobby...? :D :D :D Hope this can defray some of the expenses!

Ha ha! I've just forked out thirty euros for my Runcard which I need if I am to be able to participate in any races this year (such as the HM I intend to run in September). Which was ok until I looked at the cost of the special medical examinations I will need to undergo in order to be granted the card :O

Oh dear :(

Actually, that's a thought - I am considering a run abroad. I need to ask if I need any certificates. Hmmm...

I honestly believed running was a cheap sport when I started C25K :D

Great idea. Though with all the goodies that are run related that I have purchased lately it'd better be a tenner per run for me :P

:O Well... every little helps, right? :D

Ha yes - mine is a sparkly tin with high-heeled shoes on it. Nearly... :D

I need a tin that takes credit cards :) I seem to pay for everything on my apple watch (which I only got for running originally) so I can never find any cash these days!

Hmmm... there must be an algorithm that can siphon off a quid or so every time it detects a certain number of steps at a certain pace, surely :D Let's get Apple on the case!

I've transferred my first pound into a terramundi pot. This will stop me from dipping into it when i am short. It will be a nice surprise when i get to smash it open,as i cannot see inside.

Oh, good idea! Although I often think the terramundi pots are too nice to smash :(
