I’ve finally graduated from the programme only to find myself on day 4 in bed with the flu and a 5k looming (13th January).
What’s the best way to start back up and is it safe to start running again when you’re still coughing? No fever, no runny nose, just recovering from body aches, sore throat and dry coughing.
I don’t want to miss the run next month or lose all the fitness I’ve worked so hard to achieve.
Advice is welcome - Thanks !!!

It takes a while to lose fitness so you’ll be ok! Everyone’s different but I’d suggest going for a short run if you feel up for it and take it from there. You could always go for a treadmill session at the gym if you’re not ready for outside?
If you feel well then run. You can take a cough sweet and a hankie. Pop a sweet in your mouth before setting off and carry a few with you. I found when I had a hacking cough and had to do a race that i was fine while I was running and didn't get any coughing spasms. Running seems to open up the airways. You might need to blow your nose more though, hence the hankie
Be gentle on yourself. Flu can have a big impact on energy as well as the horrid cold symptoms. I would art out when you feel that you are ready. Listen to your body and take it nice and slow.
