Set off at 9am, blimey it was cold, still frost about.
After the warm up, I started Runkeeper on my watch and set off on my intended 5k. It was a bit slippery in places but I got on with it passing a lot of Eynsham Road Runner’s going in the opposite direction thank god, I’d have been swallowed up by them otherwise 😱
I kept a eye on the watch and at 3.7k was feeling good. Then, when I looked again at a point where I felt I was close to finishing. I discovered Runkeeper had dropped off so had to guesstimate the distance.....needless to say, not a happy bunny as there’s no recorded time on the app.....has this happened to anyone else?
Oh well, will have to do it again on Weds 😏

Yep! MapMyRun let me down in my graduation run, so I never knew how far I ran on my last "victory" run! Over it now, but was pretty annoyed at the time. You felt sure you were close to finishing, so is there really any need to repeat?
You are doing so well, Ted, don't sweat the small stuff! Tech often fails us runners...
I know what you’re saying Tim. I was just a tad disappointed as I had psyched myself up to do the 5k today, would’ve been nice to have ‘seen it in writing’.....c’est la vie 😊 😜
I have many tech failures with Map My Run, sometimes it’s me sometimes it’s it! Very frustrating but if you’re a fairly steady pacer in your runs, you can guesstimate how much you did.
I don’t get quite so upset about it as I did before, so I think you did the run. Don’t repeat it unless you really want to move on and wards you will graduate with full runners honours
I use Map My Fitness and Strava (one in km and the other in miles!). MMF has frozen on me a few times. I also find them both motivational in different ways as they all have different route segments to gauge your progress against. Well done for getting to the end of week 8! You’re nearly a graduate!
Don’t beat yourself up, Ted! If you were feeling good at 3.7k then you’ll do the 5k next Sunday with absolutely no probs. The occasion and support from everyone will lift and spur you on. I’ve made a decision not to try to log my run stats until after I graduate (hopefully!) as my iPhone doesn’t seem happy to run C25K at the same time as MapMyRun. I’ve signed up for my local park run and aim to run this on 9 Dec, even if I come last! You’re storming through C25K - your sis would be so proud x
Hi Ted. I couldn't find Couch to 5K on the list of teams when I first registered, but then I didn't realise it was listed as "NHS Couch to 5K"! (Thanks for that info.) So I've gone back to update my details and affiliated myself. I'm hoping to do my first parkrun as my graduation run on 9 Dec. Gosh, you only have two runs left now ... hope all goes well for your 5k tomorrow (and the technology works) and then you're all set for the Santa Run on Sunday. What a great way to graduate!
Thanks Angela, I’m off to do W9R1 5k right now, then 30mins on Thurs prior to Graduation on Sunday.....late starting this week as ran Sun instead of Sat. Enjoy your week and happy running 😘🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
I know, I’m sure I did the 5k but would’ve liked to have seen it in my stats for the first time.....‘twas just a case of me ‘throwing my toys out of the pram’ 😖😀
