Week 1 run 2 done. Have no idea how I did it yesterday as I felt like I'd been literally run over by a bus after my first run 3 days ago 😩 You lot never warned me about that did you? No you didn't 😬 Yes I thought I'd be a bit achy but didn't realise how much. I nearly fell down some steps at Euston underground after my legs decided to 'lock' up and I was going 'oooo' like an elderly pensioner every time I sat down or stood up. I thought there's no way on earth I can do my 2nd run, as I can't walk but I did (after 2 rest days). Amazing the powers of recovery eh? Did as much stretching as an elastic band this time though. It was all sunny and autumnal, so was lovely, as me, the fat beetroot faced woman, puffed my way up the road being sniggered at by some builders (maybe they weren't but I'm very self conscious). It feels weird when you feel your fatty bits jiggling about. Seem to have a mind of their own (Note to self-get decent sports bra 🙄). I still can only run for about 45-50 secs per segment without thinking I'm going to die but shall continue. I'm sure Michael Johnson doesn't know how long 60 secs is and just tortures me for fun, keeping me running for longer 😡X
Bloody ouch! : Week 1 run 2 done. Have no idea... - Couch to 5K
Bloody ouch!
I'm thin and my fatty bits jiggle too! Aw, don't diss Michael: wait till he cheers you later on in the course. How can you resist that chocolate smooth voice of his? Take heart, I felt exactly like you in week one. This too shall pass.
A running bra is a must. I got mine from Bravissimo, having tried every sports bra in Oxford. I appear to be almost a D cup and theirs fitted best. More expensive but worth it. No jiggling from my bosoms now.
Anyway, you're getting out there and doing it, which is more than the majority of the population, so pat on the back time. xx
Go you. I think most of us on here have all felt the same way you do. I know I did . Just keep going , nice and steady . It doesn’t necessarily get easier , but I found it got a lot more enjoyable and I still battle with some of my runs . I have just done my first run in week nine . . Persevere, you will get there and don’t feel self conscious . If they snigger it’s because they don’t have the oomph to give it a go themselves and are jealous they are not having a go . Good luck and keep running
Stick with it and you’ll soon notice a massive improvement in your running . Honestly 9 shorts weeks will see u running 30 mins and the aches do ease xx I’m gonna follow ur progress on here and cheer u along to that podium x
Stick with it. I was in the same boat as you during week 1 and now just completed W5R1 and never thought I would.
Getting easier I’m not so sure about - but getting better definitely 😃
And sod the builders or anyone else - you are doing this for YOU.
But ... you still did it 🙌🏻 Stuff everyone else watching .. you are doing this for you!
They can stand and spectate but your are actually doing this and bloody good on ya!
Just make sure you warm up and down and stretching will help. Your body is just adjusting to what you are putting it through.
Push on and and never doubt yourself ... you can totally do this 👍🏻❤️
Well done for getting back out there, you'll be surprised how quickly you gain stamina
Warm up, stretch, take extra rest days if you need them. Well done for trying run 2 after being that achy. It will get better once your muscles realise this is the new normal. And who cares what the builders think. They are probably not as fit as they think they are and you are awesome.
Awww we all remember those early days. Bits hurt that we didn't know existed. However don't give up because it does get better.
As for sports bras. I was lucky some weeks ago and got a couple from m&s for less than £10. Great bargin and I love them. Other bits will jiggle on me now but not my lady bits at the top.
Keep going and don't give up. I promise you that you will be glad you didn't in just a short space of time to come.
Not dying is the main thing 😂
Bits of me hurt that I didn't know could hurt when I started - then at the end of week 3 it dawned on me that I wasn't gasping for air any more and the aches and pains were gone.
Just keep going - it does get better and you'll be amazed at how much progress you'll make in a short time.
