Morning all. Think I may have caught this running bug badly.
Graduated on Saturday at Park Run. Took longer than 9 weeks but very pleased to reach my goal. I'm sure like many on here, I never thought it possible when I started but kept going and so pleased.
Thanks to this group for all your messages - I don't post much myself but reading them has been a great encouragement and got me out running when sometimes I lost motivation.
I did wonder now how to keep myself motivated so in a moment of madness, I signed up for Great South Run next October. It's a long way away but now have my target of achieving 10 miles by next year π³
Thanks all again for encouragement on here - I'm now officially a runner! Never thought I'd say that this summer
Wow congratulations Doobyduck on graduating and completing your parkrun on Saturday. Me too. You're clearly a very driven man if your next challenge is 10 miles; I am sure you will achieve whatever you set your mind to, just try and go steady and don't overdo things by doing too much too quick. Good luck x
Thank you. Agree it may be a little ambitious - loved having a goal with C25K and a little concerned without a new goal, I may stop. I'm planning to stick to 5K and park runs until new year and hopefully when I get better, start 10K's next year.
Haha well that's the plan! Let's see how it goes and nice to dream of actually taking part in Great South Run x
Congratulations on graduating! The GSR is a fantastic event (I ran it last year) and I think is a great goal to have - you have plenty of time to safely build up to 10 miles.π Have you thought of aiming for a 10k earlier in the year to act as more short term goal too?
Thank you. Well done to you too. Definitely recommend Park Runs. Not sure if others are the same, but I feel quicker running with group. The encouragement from Park Run volunteers to keep going when my mind and body wobble is great too
Huge congratulations to you! Not far off graduating and it has been a remarkable journey.. what a programme! It's great to set yourself goals.. my more immediate short term goal is to actually get up to running 5km!
