Treadmill - any tips

Hi - new to this site. I'm starting week 4 tonight and am a little nervous - seems like a big step up. I'm running at the gym - not the greatest but with dark nights and all .. well I'm sure you know. Has anyone graduated by running on a treadmill - feels like a lot of the external 'boosters', views, people, rituals will be missing. Any advice would be welcome. Am listening to some good tunes but feel I will need more if I'm going to make it all the way through.

Hi i have been running on a treadmill from the start. Will eventually run outside when i have built my confidence and ability up a bit more but i can't see any problems by doing it either way as long as you are enjoying it!

Hi debsatryer - I'm on week 5 all on a treadmill. I agree that you miss the views, but you also miss the cold :P

With nothing to distract me, I've found that really concentrating on my breathing has helped. It's *almost* like meditation - observing your body and how it feels. I also find that concentrating on my running form helps.

Good luck!

I run mostly on the treadmill and find it easier than outside as I can run at a constant speed which enables me to get my breathing right . However I do run outside if it's nice and I fancy a change . Currently on wk7 x

Running is running, wherever you do it.

Set your dreadmill to a gradient to better simulate running outdoors, otherwise transition to outdoors can be tough.

Each week steps up, so get used to it, but trust the programme to prepare you for it and believe in the amazing things that are happening to your body to enable you to cope with it.

You will be fine.

Try "pretending" that you are outside by using these virtual C25K videos on your phone or tablet (if you have one) on your treadmill goo.gl/xg2VTo

You will need to firstly figure out a way to download the videos from Youtube
