25 min runs - Can’t. Quite. Manage.

I have to keep breaking for a 45 second walk about three times. I then add the time on at the end so I’m still running for 25 mins but I just h e to have that mini 20-45second walk. Again, mainly for my calves!!

It’s getting me down now. 😠

Are you doing C25k programme?

A mini walk shouldn't get you down. It's a means to an end 🙂👍

Slow right down and then slow down even more. I still remember doing that first 25 min run and having to go more slowly than I ever thought possible!

Don’t let it get you down - focus instead on how far you’ve come! You’re still running for 25 mins and I’m willing to bet that seemed impossible 8 weeks ago! Most people couldn’t imagine running for as long as you can now; be proud of how far you’ve come xx

Thanks both. It’s annoying but not end of the world I suppose.

It’s usually legs not breathing that makes me want to stop.

As for slowing down, I’ve tried to slow, and I think I need to work on that. Is almost as though it feels worse when I slow down though. My natural pace is a decent pace (don’t know what it is though...) and when I slow down it feels wrong and doesn’t seem to help at all or make me go for any longer. So I decided to walk for 20secs and pick it up again rather than slow right down.

Going slow seems to hurt more and feel heavier on my lower back.

I had to stop running up a steep hill today, because my legs were just too heavy. I put this down to a poor nights sleep but primarily poor hydration yesterday. I spent the day on a train and driving and did notice that my hydration was below optimal (by the colour of my pee) but thought I had made up for it during the evening. Legs were heavy from the outset, so hydration is at the top of my list of causes.

A lot of new runners do not drink nearly enough..............nor do some older runners, on occasions.

I think I was guilty of that too yesterday

Also if you are stopping in the same place each time can you try a different route or just reversing the one you are doing? Even using the opposite side of the path/road can help.
