Hi Guys! I’m new to this group, but I just finish week 3 yesterday. 😅🙂 I was just wondering does anybody do the C25K in the gym on treadmill? I’m still to nervous to be out in public yet! I also find it easy to keep a constant speed. What are your thoughts?
Treadmill?!: Hi Guys! I’m new to this group, but... - Couch to 5K
Treadmill?!
I've done a few runs on treadmill - like you I didn't want to be seen in public - but I find being out on the road is sooooo much better - find a quiet (flat) route and go for it!!
Running is running is running and you are off the couch. It doesn’t matter how you complete the programme but you would be surprised at how invisible you are outside - no-one pays attention apart from the runners you will see who will give you the nod.
This is a question that comes up again and again. It doesn't matter where you run. Some people live in hot climates or do not feel safe in their neighbourhood. By running wherever you are making a really positive life choice
However, the consensus seems to be that running outside is just more fun! You have the benefits of fresh air and interesting routes to follow. The sun or rain on your skin, the wind in your hair, wildlife and scenery..... or the treadmill?
Please don't feel self conscious, as has already been said you will be surprised how invisible you become. Also, those who run will think, 'well done' and those who don't will think 'I wish I could do that'
I like many others here started on the treadmill, and only started out in public myself last week on week 7. I found it hard because I set off too quick, soon settled down though. It's different but a good kind of different. Today's run was on a treadmill but Monday will be outdoors weather permitting. A lot of others on here go out in the dark, but take care if doing this, be safe at all times.
I think run where you are happy and enjoy! I prefer being out of doors & have found a quiet cinder track by a hedge/ fields where I am mostly invisible! 4 weeks in & I am becoming much less self conscious about it. I met my neighbour walking her dog when I was jogging at my usual snail pace & she told me I looked great - it may not be entirely true, ( it was certainly unexpected) but it was still reassuring!!
