10 Reasons For A Grin

Thursday is my regular 10k day, between 9 and 10 in the morning, suits me just fine.

My son noticed on his way to school that I'm much more relaxed and tolerant (oh lord), and his mate apparently said how l lost my old cranky self (oh dear lord).

It is only now that l, myself, notice how much my mental state has improved. Calmness, reasoning, sleep, all in the mix.

And to think that l used to seek calmness through smoking? Oh lord, oh dear, dear lord, lol.

10k, here l come ;)

What a brilliant post. It is amazing how running just slots into our lives, makes positive changes and makes us smile all at same time. Well done on your weekly long run and positive mood.

The nature of my job means I'm never far away from fags and alcohol and although the gaspers are in the bin, the wine with dinner stays ;) I need to draw the line somewhere ;)

That is so fantastic.... I love the fact that our children see the difference it makes. Last night my son and I were watching the apprentice. We decided to have a push-up-off and he was sooo impressed with my progress... so good, and that we can give a positive impression of health to them too. Well done to you..... :)

You know the runs when you simply have fun? This morning my 10K was effortless, easy tempo at around 6min per km, perfect weather, no strain, no pain, the smell of the river and the trees. Top job ;)

I've learned a lot through past year and 5K consolidation so I'm treading carefully with 10K although I could have easily run for longer. My target will be 10K throughout the winter and then, depending on what the body says, try and move on to 21K.

God, only two years ago my only run was to my local off license to pick up the fags :) What was I thinking, eh?

Brilliant -10k no sweat you'll do it fine.. in fact haven't you already?

Oh yes, 10K became by Thursday thing back in late August but I'm still learning how to put all the chops together, and today I was as near as they come. Felt great.

My routine is still the same, easy Monday with slow 5K, Thursday 10K and Saturday when I fire it away and do 5K, reindeer-on-acid-lungs through the nose- 26-30 min-I will collapse soon-gallop.

Fun is the word ;)

Blimey - I'm off in about 15 mins hoping to do over 8km - never even thought about 21km..... wow you are a machine

Lordy indeed! 😁

Good on you for giving up the gaspers! You'll never regret it

If you keep running you'll get so much fitter in the respiratory dept 👍✔️🙂

Well, in every department I should say 😃

Haha - I was going to say the same!! (Glad it’s not just me) Confined to the sofa with shocking doms / man flu after my first attempt at a local boot camp, it did catch my eye... and it’s barely afternoon 😂
