When a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do....

Monday morning OH decided to come running with me. Much cooler now at around 23° it's bearable to run at around 9 am. However, Delia was up at around dawn as always and, rather like a small child, she had forgotten to visit the loo before going out 3 hours later.

And guess when she remembered that she desperately needed to go? Yes indeed, in the park during her 5 minute warm up. Now, those of you familiar with "The Continent", will know about the lack of public conveniences. And Ladies, unlike our male counterparts, we are unable to simply point Percy at a tree and relieve ourselves. So I told my OH that I needed to go. Or go home. He pointed to a bushy part of the woods and told me he would stand guard while I relieved myself of my burden as discreetly as possible behind an oak tree. Oh, btw, I was wearing a skort. Sir -bloody-Lancelot keeping guard my foot. After having done it, as I stood up and straightened myself up and tried to regain the illusion of decorum, 2 or 3 gentlemen with gigantic smirks on their faces appeared out of nowhere and winked at me. Oh dear.

Great run by the way :-)

PS I'm back!

Thank you dear Rollertoaster -- I nearly got knocked down by a cyclist on today's run. I was so shocked I didn't even swear at him!

crikey! Be careful out there. I remember Italian car drivers, so can only imagine what they are like on 2 wheels!

Well, I live in a cycling town -- you can hire bikes all over the place, but Italians like to live dangerously a) they do not wear helmets and b) they ignore the cycling lanes and cycle in the car and bus lanes, pavements and the running track in the park!

"simply point Percy at a tree" has me in hysterics!!!! As your title suggests - you had to go and you went, not many other options there!

Well done on the run, and glad the temperatures are cooling a bit. I'm off to Dubai in a few days - cannot fathom the heat I'm going to have to run in out there!

That was the bit that cracked me up too Newbie! :)

Dubai? v jealous! Have a great time

in reply toRollertoaster

Thanks RollerT! Haha, you'll not be jealous if I blog about perishing in the temperatures as I try to push on to 10k. I have recently got myself a snazzy GPS watch too - finally committing to this running thing! Hope HM training is going well and sorry for hijacking your post Delia! :)

Don't be daft Newbie! I'm still pushing for 10K too -- not easy at the high altitude of the Tyrol last week!

I so admire you all running in hard conditions. I have it easy compared with you.

The fact that you're taking your running gear is commitment itself :)

Training going really well thanks, will probably blog at the weekend.

(sorry as well Delia, for hijacking :) )

Funny, but I responded to this already but my response has disappeared! Anyway, there's probably air-conditioned running tracks out there! Enjoy yourself!

Dirty Old Men -- just as well it wasn't Dan in his wedding dress having a pee -- now that WOULD have made their day :-)

Oh la la! caught in the act, these men don't know how lucky they are just so long as they 'point percy' down wind. You won't go out again in a hurry without a visit to the little girls room ;)

At least you managed to escape to a big bush Delia. You COULD have been incontinent on Continent otherwise! Get it? Hahahaha@!

The point is, that the bush wasn't bushy enough -- I know I'm on dangerous lexical ground here, but you are a gentleman --- and I peed behind an oak tree. Not a Sequioa. Great paranomasia btw Dan :-)
