Am on week 3 but finding it very difficult to breathe! Lol! I’ve tried counting in and out for 4 steps but can only manage 3 and even that’s tricky! Any tips? Thanks in advance.

Don’t....don’t even think about your breathing...just concentrate on running & in another couple of weeks your breathing will have sorted itself out without you even noticing...nice & steady is the way 😊

I could never get my head around the counting method, I personally 'belly breathe', at the end of a 30 minute run I'm tired and sweaty but I'm not gasping for air like I was at the beginning.

I’m with Lee on this.. belly breathing to fill the bottom of your lungs, keep your head up and fix a point to look at 20/30 yards ahead, it will help keep your airway open and just try not to take gasping breaths... one day it will just fall into place and your breathing will sync with your running... it just takes time...

I was the same to start with, couldn't get the breathing right but all of a sudden I was running and realised I wasnt panting, I could talk if I wanted to and at the end of the run was obviously out of breath but not gasping. Just relax and try not to think too much about breathing and your rhythm will just happen.

Just breathe in and out with whatever you are comfy with. I struggle with breathing through my nose normally so not much chance when I am running. You'll find one day that you just seem to be breathing with no issue and you are not even thinking about it.

Just slow it down a bit and you will be fine.

Just breathe. Its as simple as that. Go with what comes naturally. If you get out of breathe you are running too fast, slow down 😀

I am not really one to comment on correct way to breath as I have only just finished W4 but....

The 1st 3 weeks I was literally gasping for breath and tried counting 1-2 or 1-2-3 in time with my steps but when you are struggling just to breath then that goes out the window.

I am now after doing 2 x W4 and started W5 I realise my breathing is much better. I think the key as it has been mentioned many times is to slow down. I did not want to slow down as I thought I was a failure but just me slowing down a bit made my breathing a lot smoother. The word Run is always mentioned so I thought I had to run but I cannot. For beginners like myself & you jog/shuffle is more to the point (-: . I tried running but could not complete the times needed to complete any day in W3. I slowed to a slow jog and now I can complete the times and breath a lot better.

Every time you go out try to notice other people training. When I stated looking I was surprised to see nearly all of them were just doing a slow jog,no one was running. That made me feel better after slowing down.
