Hi all!! I am new to this forum (and to running) but I have been stalking the posts for several weeks preparing... It has taken me 3 weeks of repeating week 1 to finally take the plunge into week 2. I didn't 'rush' into it as it was much more of a shock to my 59.8 year old body than I (and my poor little legs) expected! There was me, with my shiny new trainers and headphones thinking that they would just (magically) carry me through to week 2 in a jiffy. However, after 3 weeks of practice, week 1 DID get so much better and by the 9th run it was almost enjoyable (I use the term loosely) so it was time... Tonight, even though I was silently praying after the 3rd 90 second run for the podcast to finish, I DID IT.... So, no going back now, its week 2 run 2 on Thursday and hope that I live to come back and tell the tale of how it went. Knowing that I am not alone on this journey of rebooting my health is very encouraging.
Week 1 graduate (at last): Hi all!! I am new to... - Couch to 5K
Week 1 graduate (at last)
Fantastic! Well done for getting to week 2. Very sensible to take things at your own pace, there is no rush after all! I repeated quite a few runs which helped build up my confidence and stamina and I think many folk take longer than 9 weeks.
Oh and a big 'Welcome' to the forum - no more lurking now, we want to hear how you are doing 😁
That’s fantastic!!!!
Week 1 graduate is better than week 9 graduate as week 1 is where the ‘I just might be able to do this’ belief kicks in.
Keep it nice and slow. Take as much time as you want. If you feel you want to repeat a week then go for it. All of it is slowly slowly building up that fitness and stamina.
And now you’ve visited them have a look around and say hi. It’s a great bunch of people that have all been where you are.
Be proud of yourself and here is to week 3.
(I say week 3 as you’ll blast through week 2!)
Hi, welcome to this great family of runners. They are a fabulous bunch, and I know I wouldn't be enjoying running if it wasn't for their support and encouragement. You'll get good advice to if you need it, and an opportunity to share all your running highs and lows.
Week 1 is in the bag, so a big well done. There are quite a few of us who have needed to spend a little longer on the programme than the suggested 9 weeks, but it's your programme, so it's good you've adapted it to suit you.
Good luck for the rest of week 2. You're going to be great. 🎉
Well done! 🎉 you are getting stronger every run!
Well done keep it up you are doing great
Well done lm starting week to today 😱 don't know what is in store so just going for it. Will follow your journey with interest and above all enjoy. 👍
Well done! Each increase seems a bit daunting, but it is surprising how your body adjusts to it, and the sense of achievement afterwards is amazing! X
Very well done you... no need to hurry, it is a great journey, best to take it at you pace and enjoy
Welcome to, to this great place.. so much support and encouragement too.. keep posting, we are a friendly bunch
Welcome to the club and well done for starting enjoy the running and you will feel great😀
Welcome and well done for sticking with it.
Slow, slow, slow is the way forward, trust in the program and you'll get there.
Good luck ... keep posting, keep smiling and happy running!
Silent praying often helps, in my case shouty, screaming avoues at my long suffering coach Mr Smooth also worked,...
We also hope you live to tell the tale after W2R2! Most of us do, I'm pleased to tell you....
