Just finished my first run - take two! Having lost 2.5 stone this year I thought it was time to up the ante with my exercise and started out a month ago full of enthusiasm! I used to run years ago, but at the age of 59 and with the excess baggage I’d been carrying, I thought my running days were behind me. It all started so well, and I was into week three when I sprained my foot. 😏 I tried to soldier on for another run - big mistake- and had to stop for the best part of four weeks. Today though, armed with new trainers, I dipped my foot in the water again and started fresh. So far, so good! I’ve been ‘stalking’ the forum for a while but this is my first post. I’ve seen some references to strengthening exercises- any tips as to what I can do to improve my strength? Any tips appreciated.

Well done. Just take it nice and steady, there is no rush.
I always recommend stretching after every single run nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/... and use these.
For general strength exercises you could try these nhs.uk/Video/Pages/strength...
Enjoy your journey.
