Yeah w3r2 completed

After not quite managing to complete r1 on sat i managed r2 today. Need to slightly alter my route as I hit the last run at the start of a hill and that’s why I think I’m struggling. Might be cheating to do this! But if it makes it that bitty easier what the hell!

You can either pick you route or change your pace, it isn't cheating either way, let your stamina/fitness build before you attack the hills ;)

Laura, it's really simple, lets say that you ran 4 runs and each of them had a large hill in them and on each run you felt like you'd not managed it, that wouldn't do your confidence very good.

Pick a route that will allow you to complete the run, you can always attach the hill/s in later weeks if you so wished.

It's definitely not cheating to find a route that is comfortable, especially at this stage in your running. You just want to be able to go out and be confident you can manage the route so that you develop the habit of regular running, and you develop runner's legs. Hills can come later.

There are many of us graduates in here who are still challenged by the dreaded H word. You should see what Irish-John has to say about hills.

So find a nice flat route to suit you, and enjoy Week 4. Look forward to hearing all about it.

I have to do the pesky hills, but to be honest if I was doing the programme again I'd definitely have left it until my fitness was better and I was further through. It can be disheartening especially in the early weeks, when I found I needed every bit of puff I had.... so it's not a cheat it's a perfectly valid way of making sure that you can sustain a pace and time....

Cheating??? Not at all if you have flat.. embrace it...( send me some too )

You are doing well...just take it very slowly and steadily!

Hi, I am new to this and also in W3. I am definitely avoiding hills when running although they are ok when I am walking. I sometimes double back on a section of path so I run on flat ground and then walk up the hill. I had a giggle at myself last week when I saw a "proper runner" double back deliberately for an extra go running up the hill and realised I was doing the opposite to him! Enjoy the rest of flat week three. 😃

ita not cheating, its sensible! The route I take is flat as a pancake, i can't even walk up a hill never mind run. There is a steep hill track leading off the flat path and my goal is to graduate on the flat track and then start the programme again from week 1 on the hill track!
