Aaah now I understand...was your stepping stones run on done on the treadmill? With nothing interesting and new to look at no wonder the music got to you... also the pacing must be weird on a treaddmill..so much easier outside.π
Whoop...on an outside run...30 mins and you enjoyed it to...go youπ
A whole new dimension has now opened up for you..have fun working out routes, running for pleasure.. (the music on c25k + isn't so bad when its just the undercurrent you feet to the beat to.. π) (had to get that in, sorry π)
Frostycat is running outside..πͺβand having funπxx
You can put Strava or mapmyrun on your phone to track your distance and record your run which is fun..
Thank you ,, so glad treadmill died π€£π€£I don't know when I would have plucked up the courage to get out there!!! I had my own music on c25k with Mr Smooth cutting in that's probably why I had trouble as well with stepping stones and being on treadmill.
I have a Fitbit and it tracked my route , distance, pace ( which I have no idea what that means) I was between 7"31 and 8'1 !!! I don't know if I felt outside was easier or just the scenery kept me distracted but I did extra π€£π€£π€£ cannot wait to get out there Friday!!! How long before trying to go for 10k and which is the app xx
You have just graduated and had your first run outside, and you want to start training for 10k....π
Please do a few weeks of consolidation running 30 mins two/three times a week to strengthen your legs. You won't be used to the impact of outside remember and there may be slopes and kerbs...
You may then like the Sammi Murphy method of building up to 10k. Which is interval running BUT this it extreemly tough and shouldn't be done in the same way as c25k. Do one of her runs a week and maybe a shorter run or a 30 min run as its very tiring and people HAVE injured themselves by doing too much. I will post the link on the B210k site for you.
Enjoy consolidating maybe think about a Parkrun...
Thank you I will definitely do a few weeks taking it steady I know I need to perfect my pace I will look at that app if that's the one you recommend and have just registered for a park run !!!!! Xx
Looks good have just downloaded app will do a few weeks just repeating wk9 till I feel a bit more comfortable then I think I might try it do you think start on wk 2 ? And thank you x
There's a reason some of us refer to them as 'dreadmills', you know! I'm glad you survived, but I'm even more glad you are now out there and running in the real world - and even better, enjoying it! Happy running
Thank you !!! I get it now and I will give her a good send off !!! So looking forward to going out again tomorrow but my next thing I have to tackle is rain !!!! Don't like rain πΏπΏ
Just grit your teeth and get on with it. You are waterproof. Running in the rain is hardcore and any distance you cover is twice the distance in the rain
Seriously, though, it's not too bad once you get going. I'm lucky, I don't wear glasses to run, but if you do, a cap with a peak is apparently useful to keep the rain off a bit. Other than that, I cover up the electronics such as my phone if it's really tipping it down and just go anyway. I used to avoid running in the rain but now I feel like a proper runner if I go!
Well... opinions are mixed about jackets. Personally, I find that anything designed to keep the wet out also keeps the sweat in, which is revolting. But I know some people find nice lightweight shower/waterproof jackets that are very comfortable. I think Aldi have a cycling sale on this week - might be worth checking them out as well. Good luck!
