Completed yesterday, once again, took my time and enjoyed it but I can't ever see me running 5k in 30 mins.

Never say never but at the moment just complete the nine weeks or how ever long it takes and then have a go at speeding up or extending your distance.

Nope, me neither. I'm at about 3.75k in 30 minutes. My speed is going to be an ongoing project. Congrats on the run and enjoy the wonderful progression of weeks 4 and 5!

You are doing just fine, unless you really want to there is no need to speed up or do anything differently 😎

Most people don't run 5k in 30 minutes by the end of the program. Don't focus on this, focus on what you will achieve i.e. running for 30 minutes.

Once you have graduated there are the speed, stamina and stepping stones podcasts to help you finesse your technique and increase your speed.

You'll do it Seanjack. Just follow the program and be sure to take rest days in between run days and you may surprise yourself! Once you finish the program as slowstart mentioned, there are some great C25K+ podcasts to help increase your stamina and speed. I am no expert and fairly new to running as well, but I believe once you are comfortable with consistent 5ks then you should focus on increasing your pace - at least that's what worked for me through trial and error - mostly error :).

Enjoying is way more important than enduring the runs.... speed comes later and you have the speed podcasts to follow if you want to become a speedy Gonzales....

You're still building your running legs....

Well done, and there are very few who graduate with a 5k. Most of us took a lot longer to get to that, it depends on what you want to gain from your running after you graduate. There are no rules about speed or anything, it's about you and your own goals... you are doing really well 😎

Hard to believe it , isn't it. But give it a few weeks and you will wonder why you ever doubted it.

Never say never... I said after completing C25K.. I di not have any interest in running a 10K... duh!! :)

Keep it slow and steady and you will be amazed where you finish up.. or rather. where you find yourself for the next stage f your journey :)

Well done you!

The C25k goal is to run for 30 mins (despite the misleading name!) and then progress to 5k. Time is what it is - just enjoy the ride!! Best to take your time during the programme as this will ensure you get through it injury free. Plenty of time to work on pace (if you choose to) once you have 'graduated'!🙂

Self belief is a powerful force and as you have already proved, your body is capable of way more than you ever dared believe.

If you want to run 5k in 30 minutes then, barring physical impairment, there is no reason why you can't achieve that target, in my opinion. However running can provide plenty of life affirming experiences without having to run 5k in thirty minutes.

A friend of mine said aim for 40 minutes for your first Parkrun. Then you'll get a PB the second time! I did mine in 37:30 so the pb especially after a spell with a bad back may be more of a challenge . One day I hope to break the 30 mins barrier but I'm not going to try and force it.
