Good morning everybody...and what a flippin good morning it is!!!!
I want to apologise for the blip in confidence on Monday....I apologise to everyone who has been reading my posts & running by my side right from the beginning, my heros....& to the newbies on here that are just starting their journey. I AM NOT A FRAUD......I AM A RUNNER!!!!!! I know you all keep telling me ...even screaming it!!! (JCR!)....I am not going to doubt myself anymore, I promise. I have just done the last 28 min run of the programme & yes, I was flagging at the end but I could've run another coupla minutes, so I am not worried about week 9.
I have just had 'one of them runs' that cements the fact that I can run...in my own time...at my own pace, with my own goals, playing my made up games & singing my own songs....I couldn't wait to tell you all after Mondays post!! When I started running this morning I was back on the main road & I realised today how hard it had once been to reach MacDonalds...& then passed the carwash & then even further onto the plumbers merchants & further still onto the pharmacy where my friend waves from the window...but today, it wasn't hard...when I pass the pharmacy I cross the road & start back down the other side, homeward bound...& at that side of the road, about 23 minutes in, I have to pass a gym that's just opened with some proper beefcakes coming out, well, I thought, I cant run passed them looking like a deflated helium balloon, so I dug in deep & quickened my pace a bit, the parked cars were half up on the pavement so it was a bit tight but the beefcakes all stepped aside to let me run passed...I was quite pleased with myself as they all gave me a knowing smile...I turned the corner to head down to the rear entrance to the park where I started this journey & the gardeners were there and they held open the gate for me, "thanks" I actually managed to speak whilst running!! I'd about 5 minutes left when I started on my usual, familiar track, I knew roughly where 5 minutes would take me so I kept on running....when I finished I punched the air with a big "YES!!!!!"
Thankyou everyone for your comments on Monday & yesterday & the virtual 'kick up the bum' that I needed.
I AM A RUNNER, WE ARE ALL RUNNERS & WE'RE ALL DOING AMAZING!!!!
WHOOP WHOOP WEEK 9 HERE I COME!!!!

Great stuff! I'm not sure who is looking forward to seeing that shiny Graduate badge next to your name more, you or your dedicated readers! Not long to go now, I'll probably hear the scream of triumph from my little corner of East Anglia!
My pom-poms are ready for you! Ask Jancanrun how they look in action I will be doing some summersaults and back flips, and everything! Drinks are chilling
Well done. I am flagging a bit at the moment due to sinus infection that is getting better but bringing my energy levels down and its taking longer to recover. Glad you are back on track. You're nearly there by the sound of it. I like the itinerary report, especially the gardeners opening the gate for you! That's great.
Yupii!!! You are amazing! You are back with high energy, high hope, and high motivation! You are a runner that can speak during run (even if it's one word), I am impressed! You could even speed up near beefcakes - huge WOW!
Go get them Girl!
I wish you many runs like this one, and I am sire there will be plenty!
Your 'beefcakes' comment made me laugh. Sort of similar thing happened to me on Saturday doing first run of week 8, 25 minutes in (phew) and definitely lagging. Slightly dodgy lone man appeared on footpath ahead of me. Found a surprising burst of speed to run quickly and confidently past him! Motivation comes in many forms.
Yay! Great post, thank you! Those parts of the run that we used to find so tough are so significant arenβt they? Must hold that thought for the future π Have a great final week π
Wow, with a post like that I could hear the Rocky Theme in the background as you described your run past all the sights of your town, even the punching in the air at the end like the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art!
Bring on the final week, and you now know you can do it. Go out and enjoy those runs, where your smile with pride, and welcome to the wonderful world of running!
Oh, and definitely no need to apologise! We all have those moments, and that is when you should come here and vent! You know that we will all pitch in with some positivity to help you feel it yourself. We cannot be brilliant and "up" all the time, and for when we are not, we have our friends here to gee us back up. That's support, innit?
Whoop.....lovely to hear this Mummycavπ ( saving the double whoop for your graduation run)
Great post, and made me laugh. I imagined you running past those Beefcakes, and the Benny Hill music starting as they ran after you into the parkπ.. (sorry about thatπ)
You are most definately a proper runner and I'm so pleased you 'had one of those runs'..that make you feel sooo good.
Well done you!! Our bodies know what they are doing (just about!!) it's our blooming brains that keep interfering with the process and cock it all up! Great that you've kicked your blip into touch and are back in the zone and ready for week 9. You've done all the hard graft already, next week is just the icing on the cake! Good luck
That's true...when I got to 20 mins yesterday it made me think of week 5 run 3...wow, that was a tough run for me!! I've had my ups & downs but I'm getting there...we all are!! ππΌββοΈππ» ππ»
Ah so good to hear you are back. Good luck for your graduation. No beefcakes on my route unfortunately but will try and imagine some when I start to flag later when I do my first 25 min run x
Well done MC! Loved this fabulous post and your wonderful infectious positive vibes <3
I think you need to start preparing yourself for your graduation lap of honour outside the gym (and quite seriously, get some bubbly on ice). And keep that podium warm, I'll get there in the end too!
