Why oh why am I on the IC?

Hello all! I have mysteriously landed on the IC. I seem to have not only a sore foot (which started troubling me a lot yesterday - mostly around the big toe on my right foot but up the inner side too), but also now my knees are both sore, again mostly the right one, and also a bit clicky.

My last run was on a dodgy surface (I had missed a few days but I can't see that being the root of the problem), and I am wondering if perhaps the foot was already a problem and I was maybe inadvertently compensating thus causing problems for my knees. When I watch myself in the mirror when walking (something I did for the first time in my life yesterday!) it does look as if I don't place the right foot on the ground in quite the same way as I do the left, iyswim, although it feels as if I am walking normally.

I think I should find a good place to do a gait analysis (and possibly even get a doctor to take a look - what do you think?). I remember once taking my daughter to a specialist about severe acute hip pain (turned out to be caused by an ear infection two weeks earlier - very weird) and was impressed by how the doctor immediately homed in on aspects of her gait that were barely noticeable to me and was able to arrive at a diagnosis almost immediately on that basis, subsequently confirmed by x-ray and ultrasound. I can't for the life of me remember his name, but I think I will see if I can find out and pay him a visit.

So for now I'm not running (I still haven't found a solution to my time/childcare problems anyway). And I am thoroughly fed up :(

Get a gait analysis, shoe fitting, good running socks and try again when it's all calmed down, and make sure you run slow and steady just above brisk walking speed, no more!😊

Thank you for your wise words, which I will follow to the letter!

I know I can be impatient but luckily I am so busy at the moment that even if I wanted to attempt an ill-advised run, I wouldn't be able to. I'll see how things are in a few days' time and take things at a cautious pace.

Sorry to read you're on the IC. Definitely get the gait analysis. This sounds as if your shoes aren't giving you the right support.

In the meantime try massaging and rolling a golf ball under your foot.
