Personal Best Despite Blisters

I can hardly believe it. I did a horrendous interval run on Friday (against my better judgement as I had some rather nasty blisters from running with loose socks on Wednesday). I hate intervals as I much prefer going at mown comfortable speed and not trying to push myself. After 10 minutes at a steady jog I was then supposed to do 4 minutes fast running with 2 minutes steady jogging to recover. This was to be repeated 4 times, but the recovery in the jog wasn't enough and I felt both the fast run and the jogging seemed to be getting slower and slower.

I didn't have time to look at my stats until today and just found that I had run 5 k in 26.08 minutes, my fastest yet, as I seemed to have plateaued at just under 28 minutes for so long.

I'm having a few days on the i.c. as my blisters have been worse, but so pleased to find out that I didn't do as badly as I'd expected. :-)

Sorry to hear about your blisters -but well done on your PB! A great time! I've only just graduated, and much slower than you. Are you following a programme of intervals? I'd be interested to have a go :)

There are speed intervals in the 5K+ podcast called Speed. I've used this podcast before and you can get it on the NHS C25k website. But if you've just graduated it is probably advisable to do a few runs to consolidate your 30minute runs before pushing yourself to go further or faster.

I was using a training plan from Race for Life as I am doing a Race for Life run in two weeks.

Thanks for that. Something for the future, then - you are right, I should stick to consolidating just now. Good luck with the Race for Life!

Wow... maybe the blisters gave you added lightness in your step... :) Very, very well done :)

One heck of a time... !

Blimey that is very speedy, pb with blisters. I read your last post and was wincing when you described the plasters sticking etc. Brilliantly done.

Thanks, I've given my feet a rest (well partially) and stuck to the gym and swimming for the last three days. I'm hoping I'll still be able to get some practice runs in later in the week. :-)
