On the last 5 minute run section of WK5R1, which I was looking forward to despite being up and out at 6:30am, my earphones decided to stop ✋🏼 They just stopped working. No music but worst of all, no Mr Smooth!! I mean how am I supposed to run without him. I can cope without music but not Michael!!
Anyway, I got to the end of the 5 minute run and now I will never know what Michael says. Is it "well done, that was a great run!" or "fantastic run!" or "you got this!" I'm in turmoil so I'm thinking of doing the whole run again so I can find out-just kidding!! Still, despite the earphone malfunction I completed the run and cool down walk but it just wasn't the same.
I enjoyed this run so much more than I thought I would with many thanks to the stunning views this morning. Running in the early morning really is something special 🙂
Happy Saturday everyone and have yourselves a great weekend.

I've tried running in the afternoon and the evening but neither compare to early mornings for me. It clears my head and blows away the cobwebs and sets me up nicely for the weekend.
Well done on W5R1, a pity about your headphones, are they cabled or Bluetooth? For a short term fix you could try the local Pound shops maybe, pick up a cheap pair until you can get something else.
If you are after Bluetooth ones there are some pretty good ones for between £10 and £20 and Amazon.
Thanks Lee. Problematic earphones are sorted now. Just a restart on my phone was all they needed. Thanks for the advice as it might come I handy for when I complete the program. I think I'll treat myself to a nice pair of earphones/headphones.
Glad you resolved it so easily, make sure you do treat yourself when you complete the program, I'm considering treating myself after I have completed W5 R3 on Monday.
If you can, give yourself a little treat after each run, even if it's just a favourite snack (providing it's not too unhealthy) it's all motivation.
I would agree that a blueberry muffin is a suitable treat, personally I'm a reforming chocoholic and I've been sober for 4 months, I'm amazed I've got to the last run of W5 without repeating any but I'm dumbfounded that I haven't eaten chocolate for 4 months!
Well done on the run this morning though, I found run 2 slightly easier than run 1 to be honest, it's only 2 runs.
I bet. But ask yourself - what would he say in response to headphone malfunction? I reckon something about "well done for getting this far... you are working really hard... you didn't let a headphone malfunction stop you from achieving your goal". Smooth 😀
Eeeek! But well done you for carrying on regardless. I run with Jo, so have yet to experience the delights of Mr Smooth. And I agree, something really beautiful about early morning runs, when the day is all fresh, shiny and new. It also sets me up with good intentions for the day.
Oh no! A similar thing happened to me today, as I picked up my mp3 to head out I notice the battery icon looked very low but hoped for the best... unfortunately it lasted till halfway through my run then conked out. Thankfully I had thought to take my watch (as was expecting gardener at home and had to be back home by 9am) so was able to do my last two run/walk intervals using my watch - phew! Not the same without the music to pace me and no "Laura in my ear" (I am using the NHS Choices Couch to 5k podcasts)...
I'm feeling a bit curious as to what I'm missing with Mr Smooth! I have the lovely Sarah Millican egging me on. W5R2 for me on Monday - you too? Well done on persevering through the malfunction - you are unstoppable!!! 😜
I agree, Mr Smooth is fab!! "Are you ready? Go for it!!" Well done on the run, I do evening runs - about 6.30 - which are lovely too, will take a pic at some point 😁
Good morning. I know what you mean, I have done the same thing myself. I felt bereft. I carried on though, judging the time by my watch, but it left me feeling that I hadn't done it properly. But of course I had. Have a good weekend yourself
