Hello...I am lee...you can call me Katie for fun...I am 47 and been running since 12/2016....although I enjoy the runner's lifestyle...I kind of get confusion on how to eat before a run...sometimes I eat a banana or applesauce for quick carbs. Hoping to meet other runners so I can get ideas on fueling for runs!

I'd like to know as well Lee/Katie! I run when I wake up in the morning so the most I'll eat is a handful of blueberries before I'm off. Usually, I won't eat anything. Should I eat before runs?

I sometimes do a fasted cardio...but I can run up to an hour...so that's not feasible for my energy needs..so I eat a banana or Applesauce for energy and have a carb breakfast with protein after!...some oatmeal or grits!!!..some vegan sausage also for protein!

Feeding your runs is quite personal as it depnds on your running time rather than your distance. I am a slow runner so my 5&10km's take a lot longer than some, so I need more fuel for them. I love to run on a breakfast. I have two small slices dry wholemeal toast with homemade baked beans and a dry fried egg, I can run all the way up to 17km on that with a bit of dried mango for the run from 14km upwards. I have the same breakfast every morning regardless of whether I'm running, swimming or walking. Some prefer to go out empty or just with a banana, I always think play around with some different meals and note how you feel and how your run was, also it has to fit in with the rest of you days diet.
