Pssht!! It be hot out there! I awoke far too late for my 8K tonk this morning. Was planning to be out the door by 8am but that never happened. Instead I set off at 10.30am when the temperature was already rising like a thing that rises.
Overall a good run but I found it hard going. Took two walk breaks within the 8K and had a stretch at the halfway mark to refresh my legs. I find this really helps - just to stop for a few minutes, stretch your hams and glutes and then set off again. No dramas on todays run - apart from the million people along the river around Richmond! I had to duck, dive, weave and bob to avoid crashing into any of them. 45 minutes and 30 secs was my time which was good considering the conditions.
Had a jacuzzi when I got home to unwind and get my muscles massaged by jets of water then had my breakfast of oats, granola strawberries and pears (with skimmed milk obvs). A text zinged into my phone just as I was finishing and it was Mrs Dan ordering me to jump in the car and "Go,go,go!!" to pick her up at Aldi!! Big shop day today. The coolness of the supermarket was so delicious I didn't want to come out back into the heat, as the air con broke on my car a few years ago (I"m too mean to repair it) and driving in the heat is disgusting!! Anyway, suffice to say we got home hot and bothered but now have the afternoon to laze around.
Don't go mad in the heat today!

I was bought a lillipop. I said "I'm 54 and you're buying me a lollipop?".......
I went out this morning accompanied by small child on pedal power (my support team who can carry my water bottle 😁). I felt quite sapped before going and didn't think I would succeed with my planned 4.5 miles. Anyway, grit and determination got me and the small one to 4.7 miles and it was hot! I am glad I went out but blimey that was a tough run.
Hey, spare a thought for a few of us from the forum who have recently experienced what people in Southern Europe called Lucifer this summer During my 3 week stay on Croatia's amazing coast, the temperature dropped bellow 35C just once and mostly hovered toward 40c mark, lol. The runs simply had to be run either right after dawn or no later than 7am or else things could get a bit messy. Compared to that, c'mon we aren't that bad, I'm looking forward for my jog this evening
