I know it's early days - I'm about to do W2R3, - but all the same, felt rather cheesed off this morning to find that I'd put on 2lbs, whereas I hoped I might have lost a measly 0.5lb! Hey-ho. Suppose muscle is heavier than fat etc. ππ»ββοΈπ

Hi Jane
Are you also following a weight loss programme? C25K isn't really going to lead to weight loss by itself unless you are also eating healthily and consuming less calories than you are using daily. Don't get me wrong, following the programme will make you healthier and some people find themselves toning up and it has certainly helped me to be more active.
There are also weight loss forums which will give you support with this: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh....
Good luck with W2R3 and let us know how you get on.
Six half hour workouts and you expect weight loss............I am afraid not.
Many people reward themselves for their efforts or believe they need extra because they have exercised.............again, I am afraid not a good idea.
Running will tone you up and improve your cardiovascular system and may kickstart your metabolism, but until you are running in excess of an hour, you are unlikely to lose weight unless you change your diet.
For most people the equation is simply a balance between input and output of calories and running short distances really does not burn enough calories to make a significant difference.
I'm new to C25K but have been going to the gym since Feb. I haven't lost much weight, but my jeans belt goes 3 holes tighter now, so I think toning is as good as weight loss - keep track of your measurements! π
Thank you! π
Sorry resurrect an old topic JaneMC21 but how is the weight going ? I'm on wk4 run 2 ( tomorrow ) and in four weeks managed to gain 3lbs which I'm really fed up about as my weight has not changed for over 2 years. Before the programme I walked a lot and do yoga, my diet has not changed it's pretty healthy , porridge ,salads not a lot of bread but if it is it's whole grain / linseed or dairy .I don't snack , don't eat many carbs I'm really at a loss and slightly fed up !!! Any tips greatly received
Hi there. Well, I'm now about to start week 7 (who'd have thought it?!). The 2 pounds I put on initially has gone, though that was linked with a careful watching-what-I-was-eating regime. Given that I didn't really exercise before, I expected (hoped!) that the weight would drop off me, but it hasn't - yet. Listening to others though, it may well do after a little while, once all my flabby bits have toned up. However - once again confirming what others have said - I think I must look better in myself, because having seen some colleagues whom I've not seen for a few weeks (teacher/summer holiday etc) a number have said 'Hi Jane - gosh you're looking well!' They have no idea about this running lark, but it can be the only reason for maybe looking a bit leaner. I must admit though, I wish it would reflect more on the scales, but I think it will in time.
Hi Jane
Thank you for the reply certainly makes me feel better , I'll push on and hope I plateau then hopefully a couple of pounds will start to come off !! I don't want to lose weight but just stay as I was with my clothes fitting me !!!
Onwards and upwards !!!
