Repeating c25k

So, I completed the programme 4-5 years ago, loved running, entered races, triathlons, ran a half marathon. Then work took over and I lost a lot of fitness and put on weight. I've always cycled and have a reasonable amount of fitness from that - happy to cycle up to 50 miles. Haven't run even 5 k in well over a year. So I'm restarting. Week 1 and I'm a bit achey on underused muscles, but the stamina is there and I'm wanting to run further.

So my question is - can I skip a few weeks? Or do I still need to work it through.

I would work through it. But I'm a sucker for OCD. Good luck. You have a positive sound already!

Me too. There's a reason for doing the build up but you will probably sail through. But cycling uses different muscles.... seriously Mr JCR cycles thousands of km a year, but when we go walking up high gradients, his breathing is sometimes as heavy as mine, but he is way way fitter overall - it doesn't stop him getting aches though when we do it...

Hi and welcome.

You probably could skip a week or two but what's the hurry? Rather than risk injury why not stick to the program and come out safely the other end, after all it's only nine weeks and if you only need one rest day between runs you could be finished in eight.

Good luck and happy running!

If you are coming back to us... why not enjoy the journey again...:)

If the muscles are unused, then play it safe... even on a return journey we can still get injured!

So... do it properly and take it week by week... it will be fun:)...

Thanks guys - I'll try harder to be patient! i think last time I did the course in 7 weeks. On one of the long runs the podcast somehow switched to my music. Took me a little while to realise by which time I'd already run most of the 30 mins so I carried on! I'd like to be faster though so I'll take my time and focus on maintaining a steady pace
