Repeating a week in C25K?

Newbie to the community here... Just done my third run of week 4 and found it really hard to get through the second five minutes.

I've had a sneak peek at week 5 and am thinking I should probably repeat week 4 before I try week 5 - did anybody else do this? Is it a good idea or should I just try my best to get through week 5?

Of course you can repeat a week if you want to, but it sounds like you completed week 4, so you can move on. I found every week a bit of a struggle, but your body is prepared for the next stage. I'd say move on. Good luck and well done for getting this far!

Hi , you will be able to do it. Week 5 is a mind game

Focus on other things around you while running. In previous runs you have broken the run up by walking and in week five one of runs is a complete run but it's actually the same amount of running.

Take it slow and look at scenery and people watching. The breathing will kick in and before you know it boom week five will be in the bag .

Well done on your running up to now.xx

This is so helpful, the penny just dropped for me. I win best when I people watch and let my mind wander 😁

Thank you, I'll try! Getting my breathing right is something I really struggle with so maybe if I focus on that it'll help distract me. 😁

I found that when I was trying to breath and run I couldn't do both. But once I focused on anything else I was a much better runner.

I got the "tip" about counting breaths in and out along for 4 with your left foot-fall but because I'm a singer I've got a very good lung capacity and I found it was making me breathe too fast of I did that!

😂 it made me run to fast and I was getting short of breath! Is Sarah your coach?

I do keep trying but just can’t do it 😊

Yes I have Sarah as my coach - I decided I couldn't cope with sports people telling me what to do so I needed a normal woman who likes cake as much as I do!!

I agree with telford_mike. Plug on, go for week 5. Just keep it at a nice slow and steady pace and you will get through it.

Don't worry about what's ahead. Each run really does set you up for the next one. you should only need to repeat a run if you fail to complete a run or if you've been off for a few weeks.

Remember nobody said this was going to be easy! It's tougher some days more than others, but it's not impossible. You can do it,. Go go kitkatdoll!

I’m going to have to repeat run 1 week 6. I didn’t finish as I was so tired and had a splitting headache. I found it harder than run 3 week 5, no idea why. Felt awful having to miss the last run of the session. Maybe I was feeling smug after running for 20 mins last week and didn’t pace myself properly.

Oh that doesn't sound like fun, poor you! I've gone running with a headache and some days it helps clear it up but other days you just need to lie down in the dark, pretty much.

Haven't been running for almost a fortnight (too hot where I currently am) so will have to repeat some of the earlier/easier runs to get myself back up to W7R2 which is where I left off.

Thanks. I completed the run a couple of days later. I made sure I drank lots before and I had a bowl of porridge for breakfast. This weather is not helping!
