Brooks Run Signature Tour update

Just to let you know what it's all about following my post the other day.

Basically, a ticket for the Run Signature gets you what is essentially a gait analysis but slightly 'techy', all done on a treadmill in the back of a large trailer plus a 20% discount card for a new pair of trainers). They strap some sensors round your thigh & calf plus one on your sock at the heel. You run in your socks so they are looking at your natural gait rather than any assistance/support you may get from your running shoes. Using an iPad to film you, they make you do 10 squats, 5 filmed from the front and 5 from the back then you run for one minute at your usual running pace and that is filmed from the front and rear too. Typically, there was some issue with the light and I ended up doing about 25 squats before they had what they needed 😐

It's quite cool how it works as the computer then produces a simulation of how your knees, shins, ankles and heels are affected when you run. It shows you this before and during the running and they email you the results too.

I thought I overpronated so had bought a pair of Brooks Vapor 3 in the sale. Turns out I don't at all! In fact, I apparently have an almost perfect running style, my knees and shins remaining as straight as they are when I'm not running with just a little more ankle roll. Who knew?

Tried several pairs of shoes on including the Ravenna 8, Glycerin 15 & Ghost 8 and had a run to the edge of the field and back although they said I could run all the way round the field if I wanted to which was probably about 2k. A ticket to the general admission will allow you to try out the shoes (and sports bras) without having the analysis done first.

I would probably say, if you're looking for a new pair of shoes and like Brooks and there's an event near you, it may be worth popping down but it wasn't so much of an 'event' as I thought it would be. I drove 30 minutes to get to Perry Park in Birmingham but I wouldn't have wanted to go any further than that. I would have stayed to run round the park but the sky had gone very black and I didn't want to get caught in the heavy rain.

Sorry for the waffle but wanted to report back.
