Surprised myself!

I haven't been able to run for 8 days due to other commitments including a long weekend with family involving lots of food and alcohol. Dare I say I missed running....that's the first surprise!

The second surprise was finding myself turning right at the traffic lights and heading for the gym instead of going straight over for the road to home. I had spent all morning arguing with myself about where to pick up the programme again having left it at W8R1. Or perhaps I'll just go for a swim? Or do some yoga? Or watch some t.v..... I really should go for a run. But what if I can't do it? You'll never know if you don't try. But I could sit in the garden and read my book. Or do the ironing.....

Surprise number 3: I find myself putting on my gym kit!

Number 4: I'm pressing W8R2 and listening to Mr Smooth. How I've missed him. I am sure he missed me too.

Number 5: I'm talking to myself during my warm up. Telling myself that there is no pressure. Just slow and steady and run for as long as you can and then you'll know where you need to go back to in the programme.

Stella McCartney on Desert Island Discs today and before I know it surprise number 6! Mr Smooth is telling me that I'm halfway through!

It is no surprise that the last 5 minutes were very nearly the death of me but I slowed down even more and that 28 minutes was done!

To those of you who think you can't do it, don't let those gremlins get the better of you. Give it a go. You might just surprise yourself!

The mental tussles are funny aren't they? I do it too, thinking well if I don't run, I could do any number of things from the mundane to the improbable to the highly expensive and financially ruinous. But you stayed true to Mr Smooth and well done for that - otherwise I'd claim first dibs on him, despite the fact you got him first. Although I am not sure but I think AnneDroid may have been his all time number 1.

It is funny how cleaning the oven can look so attractive when compared with something you really don't want to, but know you have to do!

I'm just thankful that at the moment, I am enjoying the programme so much and who cares about a dirty oven anyway!

I think that there is enough of Mr Smooth for all of us as long as we don't all go for a run at the same time!

Mr Smooth is very adaptable but spanning countries a bit hard even for his talents!
