I graduated last year and have carried on running but have got worse not better!
I run in the mornings so over last winter ran a few weeks in the dark/as it was getting lighter but then hubby's hours changed and I didn't want to run a 4am n the pitch black (had to be out and back before he went to work). Plus by the time I got home it was dark too so took the decision to run weekends only for a while keeping my running up. Fast forward to this year and I started running more but only listening to my own music and never graduated past 5-10 minutes at a time (should have done c25k again but didn't)
But about 3 months ago I started noticing a pain on the side of my left foot. Have a bit of a lump/bump just in front of my heel on the side. Thought I'd maybe pulled a muscle as it's not a bump as such just looks a little swollen-ish. Have been to doctors and had a scan on it but they don't know what it is - (scan showed nothing wrong) Have rested my foot, and not run in about 2 months but still it aches occasionally when I have been on my feet a lot.
Now I don't know what to do. Don't know whether to go running again or rest it more?!?! Really missing my running at the moment but don't want to make it worse! Anyone else had foot problems?

I think I'd see a different doctor. Sounds very much like plantar fasciitis but you really need a diagnosis so you can know what to do about it.
Definitely go and see someone else. My (right) foot eventually ballooned and the pain wasn't worth a living. Good physio sorted that out, and another doc checked my gait, my posture, the way I ran and all was a mess. They custom made my insoles and chose perfect shoes for my feet. My problems we solved there and then and now I look after myself even better (but that was me and your problem may be different).
I'd be inclined to make a referral to a podiatrist or physio, Fairydust, since they're more likely to have greater understanding.
If it's on the outer edge of the foot, it's unlikely to be plantar fasciitis, since the discomfort with such a condition is largely located in the base of the heel. It could be inflammation of the peroneal tendons, since they travel along the outer edge of the foot. Is the discomfort a dull ache or more of a sting, similar to that felt when cutting the skin?
