Was really surprised at how easy I was finding my third run on Friday until .. Jo Wiley goes 'that's it just two more runs' when I was dead set that I just had one more left and it all went to pot!
I was breathing well before then and then it was I'm not sure if like panic or annoyance that I had miscounted but the last two were horrendous!
Any tips for keeping a cool head and not losing focus?

Hi Princess B - someone presumably famous or clever or both said something along the lines of 90% of running or sports is in the head. And it's so true, if you think you're almost done your brain works your body down, so this time you became a victim of your own head! Now I check out the run/walk times in advance, just so I can synch my brain and body and not get caught out.
Everyone has their own idea on music playlists podcasts etc, I've tried running without music and it just doesn't work for me. Having said that being a techy klutz, I seem to manage to choose entirely the wrong music for the workout, so who knows. But if you're technically more savvy than me, you could maybe think about your playlists and see if having music helps the focus. i find I tune into the music and don't worry about where I am in the session and I let Mr Smooth interrupt me with his instructions.
Oh also, don't do what i did and panic and think your house is being burgled and then totally screw up your warmdown, by doing an unscheduled sprint
Wow that is literally so true and thank you for those words of wisdom! That is obviously what I did in my head and jeopardized myself!
At the moment my boyfriend has done all the runs with me, I find it useful to have someone to spur me on but am dreading the time I have to go it alone! I will have to listen to music if I do it solo though.
Oh dear, I'll try not to think like that! Thanks Jan!!!
Omg - the half time bell. I've been going mental trying to fix my phone for this phantom bell.....I had no idea thank you for saving me from technology hell
So far I have been running with my partner as moral support so I am dreading the time that I have to go it alone! I will have to find a good playlist I am sure, thanks for the support!
You could do worse than download the c25k podcasts with Laura on the NHS health unlocked C25k website. Laura is a graduate of the plan and coaches you through the run with tips and encouragement. You can play this on an Mp3 device. There is music too, quite cheesey but you want to get the run done so you can move on sort of thing 😉
There is also an app where i think you can choose your own coach (Jo Whiley, Sarah Millican...) and add your own music if you are technically able.
