Ouch is all I can say 😟

Started Sat run, isn't any worse but isn't any better, I ran Monday and this morning. Dull ache whilst I'm resting.

I'm not sure if I should rest until it's completely pain free.

Certainly made me slow down and walk

Ouch! No, don't try and run through pain, have rest until it's gone, don't worry about taking more time out, when you come back remember, run slow n steady..😊

i have had very similar this week (week five). The ran through the pain on Sat but had to stop mid run on Sun as it got a lot worse. (I know I should not be running consecutive days but it was lovely and sunny!)

Anyway, I have rested, iced and ibuprofen'd my shin and did a light 15mins cycle at the gym this morning, followed by 4 x 2mins run and walking in between. I want to crack on with week 5 now but am scared of more calf pain.

How long do you think we should rest for?

Sorry your shins are still painful, Cleop - sounds like you need to ice them a bit more.

I feel ok after the gym this morning when ch is bizarre as my calf was super painful just two days ago?!? Think I'm gonna do another light session on Fri and then crack on if they feel ok at the weekend.

My 'nine weeks' to 5k is stretching out over many weeks (I have repeated loads of runs til i have mastered them) but I def am progressing.

Am joining Weight Watchers this Mon so hoping that shifting some weight will aid my running!

Good luck with the ice and rest, Cleop.

Hi. I've just taken 2 weeks off for sore shins. I had ice on every eve & use a roll on gel called Biofreeze during the day. Did lots of stretching particularly calves & ankles but also glutes & quads. You may want to have your gait & trainers checked. Although my trainers were ok for my feet they were very old & my new pair are much lighter with better cushioning & stability helping eliminate any shin pain. Take it easy & don't worry about how long the programme takes to complete!

I think I'm just a keen beginner 😊 I am going to go and get gait analysis done. I've got running trainers which I thought were okay but I'd rather be sure and avoid future problems.

2 weeks seems like forever πŸ™„
