Hi everybody,

Please feel free to share your runs here and chat about how it's all going,

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If youre a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy week,

Juju, RFC and Pops

well, it has taken me a long time to get there, but this morning I finally ran my five miles!

Almost by accident as I set off to Polyrunner 164 (I hadn't even finished the full 60 minutes of 162 yet). After about 8 minutes I decided that I wouldn't be able to keep it up for the 40-50 minutes I planned to run, so I switched to Poly

runner 162 and off I set. I was going well so thought I would try for the 50 minutes in addition to the 8 already done. Then I was coming up to 7km and feeling good so I thought "go for it, get this done then I can go back to just running without targets again"

So I did. 8.35 km in 68 minutes and 3 seconds (which included faffing about time when I changed the polyrunner).

I returned back to work this week after my maternity, I'm having to try and plan my runs around my shifts so it's a bit harder to fit 3 a week in but I'm hoping to be able to use the cross trainer during my lunch at the work gym which will definitely help and make up for it. I've set myself the target of running 55km during July. I'm 12 down! 43 to go, coincidentally 43km is what I completed in June.

Attack of the gremlins thwarted by a pb..

Took my own music out tonight, but knew my headphones were dodgy..Seems they are no longer fit for purpose 😯. Just a bit of noise now and then as I tried to guess what was playing...

Then my hands got so sweaty I dropped my water as I switched hands and twisted as I bent to retrieve it...

But it seems I was invincible tonight and ended up running for 33 mins with a pb. quite a bit faster than I run with Laura. 😊 Happy bunny...and no damage from the twisted side.

Got my headphone issue sorted and decided to do the same as Wednesday and listen to my own music on a run of just over 30 mins.

What a difference to hear the music😆 and started with Paranoia by black sabbath.. Don't fear the reaper next.. i was bouncing along really feeling good. My breathing today was fine all the way through and plenty of stamina.

By the time I got to I'm the voice by John Farnham l felt like I could go on so ran to the end of the track doing circles as I ran out of route...

I really enjoyed it And on looking at my strava result was quite a bit quicker than previous runs on this route.

I thought of Oldfloss hopefully having done her run on the beach this morning and it helped me feel cooler in the breeze.

Happy running 😊xx

On Thursday I attempted W9R1 for the second time. Ran with a total beginners' running club thinking this would drive me on. It was still 27 degrees at 7.30pm. I'd drunk too much water during the day, totally lost faith in myself, got a stitch and felt like I was going to be sick. I sat at home close to tears. Tomorrow morning I'm going to attempt the same run again but on my own - it's a beautiful route with lots of off street running and a stint through a nature reserve. This will be my third attempt at W9R1 - but this time I'm going to do it! The support on this forum gives me belief in myself I didn't know I had!

Remember. It's only an extra two minutes. Focus on those extra 120 seconds. Nice and slow to get there. If you have reserve in the tank you can always sprint that last minute then...job done! Tick the box and enjoy the rest of Sunday with a feeling of satisfaction. Tell us how you get to on! X

runlikeagirl I did it - but i hated it!!!!!!!

runlikeagirl profile image
runlikeagirlGraduate in reply to RebeccaSK

Why? RebeccaSK ? E.g Did you run too fast? I started to hate it at around week 7 because I was having a battle about commitment to running ...so mine was mental rather than physical.

No, I run sooooooo slowly - normally 14 min/mile. I was so strong, mentally, at the start. I have never hated a run as much as I hated the last ten minutes or so of this run though. Although I was physically exhausted, it's mental. It's always mental with me!
